At DCP when they turn 4 they are expected to wipe - I was shocked as this seemed WAY young to me - so I had no choice but to teach him. Sometime he does good sometimes not....
At home I will still help sometimes but otherwise he does it himself - he is 5 now

@Mamaof2: Yeah I was wondering about that... my son (most likely) starts a new school in August and I am wondering if they expect that.... he'll be a few months shy of 4 at that point. Maybe I can just hope he'll refrain from crapping between 7:45 and 12:30 every day?

@mamimami: He might! My sister said all 4 of her kids quickly learned that if they poop at home they wont have to wipe and stopped pooping at school - haha

My oldest is almost 5 and I'm still helping him wipe at home. At school his teachers will help. Now, when he starts kinder... I'm sure he'll have to do it by himself. I doubt he'll have a restroom in his room like he does now. I think he is capable of doing it himself. Thankfully, he's a pretty clean pooper so there is usually not a lot to wipe except when he has an upset belly.

We helped my DD wipe at home until she turned 5. But she wiped by herself (or maybe she didn't wipe, I'm not sure) at school when she entered early childhood, which was age 3. We asked the teachers to help at that age, but I'm not really sure they did. They didn't seem to excited about it.

DD can wipe, but I always double check. She is almost 4. It's usually clean, though. She eats well, but I can't stop checking!
