All the books say after one year to introduce cheese sticks (bc it's cows milk?) but I'm just curious. When did you introduce cheese sticks/cheese?

I have not yet simply bc most of the "cheese' sticks out there are so over processed.
I wonder if anyone has a reco for some that are not or actually have cheese in them?
ETA: I also feel it's a very "american" thing to give cheese a lot to toddlers! So I'm less anxious to start cheese as well and coupled with M is just recently cleared on dairy!

Definitely didn't wait a year. LO *loves* cheese and has been eating cheese almost daily at daycare and home since maybe.....8 months? I can't remember exactly. We started with softer cheeses (like goat cheese), now she eats all cheeses!

@regberadaisy: We buy these ones:

They also colby sticks, too.
ETA: I totally agree with you that cheese sticks are a pretty processed form of cheese. LO eats a lot of real cheese, and sometimes get cheese sticks (they are handy if we need to run errands and she needs a snack to have in the car).

We gave her a little cheese around 10 months but it was just a small taste. We started letting her eat more at 1 year.

@yoursilverlining: thanks! Honestly, I never thought much about it bc we usually buy cheese from the deli. But DH made a comment about it when we saw it on daycare's monthly menu. Needless to say LO does not eat daycare food!
Def helpful to have for snacks when we're out. Which is why I'm starting to look into it. I know local dairy farms make cheese products. How much do you pay for the Horizon ones?

haha LO loves american cheese. I haven't given her sticks, but little bites of a slice of american cheese and she goes crazy. she's 8 months and hasn't reacted to it.
she's also had yobaby yogurt and loves it! my ped told me 6 months for all food, except peanut butter, honey and fresh strawberries.

@regberadaisy: We by "sticks" of British cheddar and C loves them! They're not super processed.
C LOVES cheese. We definitely didnt wait until a year. We got an all-clear for everything except nuts and honey at 7 months old.

thanks for all the answers.
LO just turned 8 months last week and I think she's ready too.
@yoursilverlining I just bought the exact same ones (for myself!) I should try a little bit to see if she likes it!

We just introduced cheese at 9.5 months. Our pedi gave us the "okay" at our 9 month well-visit. We don't do cheese sticks though...I just cut up cheese into tiny cubes for him to self-feed. He LOVES it!!
