Hellobee Boards

Well, Xander (almost 14 months) is definitely squirmy during changes! We try to give him toys or blocks or the tube of Desitin to keep him entertained while we change him, but sometimes we just have to hold him down, lol!

L is almost a year old and we were starting to run into this problem. This is not really a solution and is actually something I feel terrible about, but one day he fell off (yeah, I know. And he fell away from me so despite my lunging for him, I couldn't catch him!) and apparently he learned his lesson because he's been much more cooperative since then. I suppose that's not super helpful though, I certainly wouldn't advocate letting your LO get hurt! Thank goodness he was fine, just scared himself.

I know a lot of people probably would've moved him to the floor after that, but he is SO much more wiggly and difficult on the floor, instead I just got something to help the changing pad stick to the table (it slid from his extreme bouncing, causing the fall.) I'd suggest re-arranging the dresser so there's nothing to grab near her, and if she has a favorite thing to grab just hand it to her. I let LO play with the wipes packet during diaper changes - it's the only time I'll do that and he's fascinated.

@Cherrybee: my lo went through a throwing tantrums on the table period. But, we got through it. She's 22 months and we're still changing her up there.

We still use it at 13 months. We just hold her down, give her a toy, book, bottle of lotion to play with and move fast!

We still use the changing table at 14 months. It was getting insane a few months ago but I put up some craft paper on the wall next to the changing table and she gets to pick a sticker and stick it up there every time she gets a diaper change. It's been a real sanity saver! She spends most of the changing time picking out her sticker. If she's already upset when I put her on the changer I'll just grab a sticker and stick it on her hand or foot and that usually distracts her.

We had to put the change pad on the floor. LO twists around too much and she's strong when she's in a mood.

I starts using the clip belt to tie him down. He doesn't mind too much as long as I give him something fun to play with (started around 12 mo, now 15).

We still use the changing table at 17 mo and he is as wiggly as they come.

LO is 2 and we still change her on the table. Some days are bad but she has calmed down a lot!

Still changing J on the changer at 19 months. We just give toys, books, etc. for him to play with and most of the time he holds still enough for the diaper change. If he starts wriggling, then I have to just hold him down.

We're starting to fight this now - she is SO wiggly. I usually just change her on the floor in the livingroom, but at night we use the change table.
