i had newborn separates, but mostly onesies with pants until we got to the 9 month size.

She's just started wearing t-shirts and pants at 8 months, in the 12 month size (my big girl :)). I still layer a onesie under there though, since it's cold!!!

I stopped onsies and pants sets at like 6 months, but would use them seperately. at 14 months she will wear a plain onsie under stuff, but I have fun mixing outfits together to give her a more stylish look

I would say her wardrobe became predominantly separates around a year. Before that, it was onesies and pants, etc. most of the time.

I started her in shirts + pants around 3-4 months? She was in onesies + leggings for a long time, and now (5.5 months) I'd say its 50/50 between actual outfits vs onesies + pants.

I think I started LO in pants and tops (though most of the tops are onesies) around 3 months old with daycare. Basically, he has to have a top, pants, and socks for daycare. During the summer, he wore shorts instead of pants. With the winter, he wears thermal onesies and fleece pants on cold days.

ETA: at birth, he wore kimono tops and an A&A blanket. Sleepers for bedtime only.

Around 3 months. At 6 months, we have a 50/50 mix of onesies and separates.

I didn't really use separates until he began to walk. I hate when shirts bunch up when carrying him so I always kept him in onesies and one piece outfits until he was walking regularly around 12 months.

@fussygal: Exactly. I mean I love those little bellies, but not sticking out while they're crawling all over. If it helps for reference, Mrs. HH and I both have 9-month olds boys, and we're still in onsies. I will say this might be a little different for girls because a lot of their tops are longer than the shirts for boys. Might not be a huge issue but Mrs. HH could probably weigh in on that since she has a daughter, too.

@Mrs. High Heels: Plus, I bet his lil' belly is sooo hard to resist if it's showing. I can't even imagine with his little chubs! I would die.

@Mrs. Blue: @Mrs. High Heels: I think it is cute when shirts ride up on R. It isn't bad at all. But I love the diaper sticking up over her pants, makes me think of a plumber's crack.

Onesies are a pain when they are super little. I think stick to sleepers for the whole newborn phase. I mean, maybe a cute outfit or two is good. But I hated (and he hated) stuff going over the head! Looking back I would do just sleepers. So if there are onesies you really like, get them in the 3-6+ month size. Or I feel like I started using more once it got cold and I wanted them to go on under PJs.

@fussygal: We did sleep n plays until 5 months ish. Easier to change and deal with, happier baby.

@Smurfette: Gah, not only does she have extraordinary physical prowess, but she cares about others, too! She's obviously just giving all the other March babies a fighting chance to catch up.

Always I think. At least since it started getting in chilly in Sept and she was one month old and stopped being in just a onesie most of the time. I'd do pants, onesie and a sweater on top.

I still layer onesies but it depends on how long her top is. I have a mix. She mostly sleeps in onesies and hangs out at home in them. Separates for going out. She's 14 months. Started separates around 12 months.
