How old was your LO when he/she could self soothe? My daughter is 4 months and although she loves sucking on her hands while she's awake, she pokes herself in the eye and bothers/upsets herself with her hands if she's not swaddled while sleeping. Getting up to put her paci back in is wearing on me!

The reflex of the hands can last until 6 months. He's 4 months too and eats his hands all day long but can't do it in his sleep.

In the womb! Many ultrasounds of him sucking on his hands/fingers/thumb. At 3years, he's still a thumbsucker when he's tired.

My LOs never self soothed with their hands/fingers.

around 10 or 11 weeks when we sleep trained. the paci routine every 5 minutes for over an hour every single nap and bedtime was not working out.

He sort of started doing it during the day around 4 months. But his hand eye coordination improved a lot between 4 and 5 months. Now at 6 months I see him sucking his hands in his crib often.

LO has never sucked on his hands to self soothe. He does kind of gently wiggle his head from side to side in his cot, sort of burrowing into the mattress - I presume that's his soothing technique!

He started self-soothing at night with thumb sucking at 3 months. Similar to @littleredhairedgrl, he prefer the paci.

4 months for LO 1 and 3 weeks for LO 2.

At about 3.5mo! We swaddle though, so he doesn't get the chance at night unless he breaks out of it.
