I had no idea you should start looking so early! I definitely thought 18 weeks would be really early. @Arden: as a doula, when do you prefer people to start contacting/ booking?

Side note, I just found out that Health flex spending accounts cover doula costs? That's awesome.

I officially booked at 21 weeks (a few days ago!) but I had contacted her about availability around 18 weeks-ish. She said she already had a client booked due the month after me.

I booked her at around 20 weeks or so I think. We also took prenatal classes through her.

We booked her around 30 weeks...she said that we were pretty early.

called different doulas at around 28-ish weeks... met them (team of two doulas) at 32 weeks and booked them shortly after that. I had two doulas who took turns being on-call.

Another late booker here...35 weeks. We didn't realize we both wanted and needed one until that point. Our first choice happened to be available so that worked our perfectly. They aren't commonly used in my circles so maybe that is why

We booked really early (4 months). We wanted someone with lots of experience and great references, so we knew that those qualities would also make her pretty popular! We ended up getting our first choice.
