I was friendly with other parents but "friendships" didn't really develop until the 3 year old birthday party circuit started for LO 1 and her classmates. Some of the parents are really close friends now and they arrange meet ups for play dates, go out to dinner, text, offer babysitting and hang out without kids.

At our first daycare it took maybe 3-4 months. My son started in January and we started seeing and becoming friendly with more parents at the neighborhood playground as the weather got nicer. When we changed daycares it took a lot longer, like 9 months. The big differences were that at our first daycare most of the kids lived in the neighborhood and there were a lot of expats, so more English speakers. At our current daycare, not a lot of kids live in the neighborhood and the population is mostly locals. While some speak good English, we don't have that quick, natural bond like you have with expats.

Everyone is just so private here (myself included). I feel like we're all waiting on who will have the first big birthday party.

We are friendly at pickups but no one has added us as Facebook friends or invited us on a play date. I was hoping that would happen before I go back to work from maternity leave but probably not?

We invited his class to his third birthday party and met most of the parents for the first time then... but no one else has done the same, so we still haven't really developed a relationship with any of them

We have been to a handful or more of parties but we have only really gotten to know one of the parents (who is also a teacher).

We have to SEE anyone, let alone develop friendship lol. B/c DD only goes PT so she gets there later and leaves earlier.

We don't do drop offs or pickups so we don't have a chance to meet any other parents. However we hang out with @plantains since our girls, coincidentally, are in the same class

I'm close to the people that we have regular play dates with as we can't attend most bday parties because DD1 does so many activities. I leave 1-2 days free a week from activities so that we can do play dates.
