Gosh... Right around 14 months I think? I was trying to introduce the idea of sleeping under a blanket but she decided to make it a second lovey.

I gave a fleece blanket to my son when it got cold this fall. Around 18 or 19 months. He still doesn't stay under it all night.

He had a muslin blanket in there pretty early. 11 months? I can't remember.

I started letting him sleep with an angel dear full sized blanket at 1. He still swears a sleep sack, just cuddles the blanket.

Early-7 or 8 months ish? But she always had one at school, and for a long time, she was co-sleeping with us. She hated sleep sacks.

Earlier than most, probably. I think by 1 he was sleeping with a little giraffe blanket, which are pretty heavy.

At one she got a breathable muslin one and now at 18 months has that one still, a fleece blanket, a lovey, 2 dolls, and a bunny stuffed animal. All the babies.

Around age 2 at home. They started using muslin blankets at daycare around 4 months.

Our DD is still in a sleep sack (and crib) at 2.5. Last week she was sick so I thought I'd try giving her a warm blanket over top. Big mistake. She never gets up at night and that night she called for us about 5 times because her blanket wasnt on properly and needed us to fix it. We will not be doing that again! Do your kids all keep their blankets on?! Or do they just not care when the blanket lies crumpled at their feet? I think we will attempt a blanket again when she's in a real bed.

12/13 months. She was allowed an A+A blanket for a month or so before that.

@delight: OMG. My son is almost 2 and also in a sleep sack and crib. We tried a blanket and he screamed for his sleep sack and wanting the blanket "all gone!!" Sleep sack forever. lol

At daycare, I gave a regular A&A blanket after she was maybe 14 months. At home, she sleeps in a sleep sack to this day and she's 2.5, haha. But she sleeps in a queen size bed with pillows and a comforter pushed to the bottom of the bed, and she's still in her sleep sack.

At about 1 year we bought these Dream Buddies Sherpa/velour blanket + pillow sets from Costco for $10 each. It's a flat stuffed animal pillow with a crib sized Sherpa blanket. DS still sleeps in a sleepsack and kicks off the covers from rolling around everywhere but I thought it would introduce him to the concept of bedding and give him some residual heat just being next to his body as it started getting colder at night. We ended up buying 4 of them because they wrap in a little tidy Velcro package for transport and it's nice for him to have for naptime at daycare and when we travel.

I started putting a crocheted blanket in the crib around 7-8 months. He was super mobile (even in his sleep) so I didn't worry about it at all. I still put him in sleep sacks, though. He moves a lot and I want him to stay warm. Plus, it's a sleep cue (even for naps!). He actually fusses when I start to put it on cause he knows what it means.

At our 1 year well visit the ped said we could put whatever we wanted in the crib (blankets, stuffed animals, etc).
He's 17 months (nearly) and we've been doing a light A+A blanket ever since. He still uses a sleep sack but I still fluff up the blanket and put it over him as part of our routine. He likes it and I figure it will get him used to using one one day. Sometimes it ends up at the end of the crib unused, sometimes it covers him all night, but usually he just ends up cuddling/hugging it.

We have one of the new A&A super soft/thin Dream Blankets and I will cover my 9 month old with it. It's silky soft or something like that, and I can't see it ever really being a suffocation risk.

We gave her an A+A blanket around 8 months. She mainly just cuddled with it. Just this past month (16-17 months) we gave her an A+A Dream blanket, and she finally keeps the blanket on for at least part of the night. She wasn't keen on blankets until the Dream blanket - now she requests it.
