If your lo started off in your room, when did you move them to their own room? Did they sleep in a separate bed (bassinet, Moses basket, cosleeper, rock n play) or did they co-sleep?

My guy is 14 weeks. We don't plan to move him until at least 6 months based on the AAP's recommendation due to it reducing the risk of SIDS.

DD is 11 weeks and her crib is in our room because we have a 1 bdr apt. If we had an extra bedroom, I would be looking to move her right around now.

LO is 12 weeks old and we co-sleep. She slept in a moses basket next to the bed for the first few weeks, then we moved her into a co-sleeper between us in the bed. We have no plans to move her out anytime soon. Truth be told.....we love having her in the bed. Everyone sleeps so much better!

We moved our daughter out at 12 weeks and I am glad we did (although it was super difficult at the time). We all slept so much better and it was nice getting back into the routine of snuggling and talking to my husband before bed without worrying about waking up our daughter. She slept in a rock n play.

We are waiting till 4 months. LO still wakes up quite a bit during the night, so doesn't make sense to move him until he's sleep becomes longer and more regular.

LO slept in a Pack n Play bassinet in our room for the first 4.5 months. Then she transitioned to a crib in her own room. She adjusted right away but I checked on her like a crazy woman the first week!

LO slept in nap nanny for first 3 months in our room. then we transitioned to pack and play to get him sleeping flat on his back. at 4 months we transitioned to crib in own room. we are not sleeping thru the night so i'd be lying if i said he stays in his room all night!

She slept for 2 weeks in a separate co-sleeper and then I moved her to the crib in her room.

I had her in bed with me for 2 weeks, then moved her to her floor bed. I would fall asleep in my room, then go to her room when she woke in the middle of the night. Usually I passed out next to her.
Miss sleeping next to her small body!

She was in our room until 4 weeks old. When she slept in my room, she was in her bassinet for a little while then she hated it and slept in the swing for 2 hours at a time, then she would sleep on my chest for awhile. Finally, we moved her into her crib and she loved it + slept through the night. I feel bad because DS slept in my room until he was 12 months...she doesn't need me as much as he did

We had her in a bassinet in our room until she was 4 months old. Now she's in her crib

Sawyer slept in our room (in a cradle) until 3 months old, then we transitioned him into his own room. He still comes and sleeps in the bed with me for a couple hours in the morning after DH goes to work.

LO slept in the bassinet attachment of the pack n play in our room until she was about 16 weeks old I think. I felt like she was so far away the first night, but we all slept better--she slept 7 hours straight and any misgivings I had were out the window by morning!

LO is 11 weeks old and has slept in the bassinet of a pack and play in our room since she was born. We are planning on keeping her in our room until 6 months as per the recommendations to reduce the risk of SIDS.
She's been sleeping for 8 - 9 hour stretches for the past three weeks so having her next to our bed has not disrupted our sleep in the slightest.... and I must admit, I love having her in our room! It just reassures me to be able to check on her any time during the night without having to get out of bed. She's also a pretty sound sleeper so DH and I still get to have our snuggle time and late night conversations without waking her.
It's going to be so hard to move her to her own room! I just love having her next to me (cue overly attached parent here!)

LO slept in a bassinet next to our bed until she was 3 months old. By that point, she was sleeping through the night and also starting to outgrow the bassinet. It was hard moving her into her own room. I missed having her in our room. The first two nights, I slept in her room just to make sure she was ok in her crib.

We co slept for the first 2 months and then she went into her crib in her own room.

Because we're in our old house her crib is in our room and she's been sleeping in there since about week 6.
I wonder though how I'll feel when we move into the new house and she's in her own room!

He's 3months and still in a crib in our room! I don't want to move him out bc it's so nice to have us all together!

My son slept in a basinnet in our room for 5 weeks, then we moved him to his crib in his room. We were all sleeping like crap.
I should also say that G's room had a queen sized bed, where I bunked for A LOT of nights...let's just say many nights he ended up sleeping with me in bed.

LO is 10 weeks tomorrow and has just started sleeping through the night at a pretty regular schedule. She was a fussy sleeper and refused her bassinet early on, we've been co-sleeping ever since. She's had tummy issues for the past few weeks and I've had to let her sleep with her on my shoulder for a few nights. I've been contemplating sleep training and transitioning her in her crib (in her room) but I'm too scared to mess things up! I've barely started to sleep at night again! Plus, her room is downstairs!
She's over my shoulder for a nap as I type this. The day when she'll finally be in her own bed seems like lifetime away at this point.

I have a friend who just moved her baby out of their room. He is 18 months.

He slept in a rock n play in our room for a month but was so loud. We moved him to his room (literally 2 feet away) and he slept in the r n p until 16 weeks and we have been transitioning him to his crib for 3 nights now.

DD slept in an arm's reach cosleeper for the first three weeks. I probably would have had her in there longer, but one night while my mom was here helping out she told me to go to sleep and that she would stay up and put the baby to sleep, but she was putting her down in the crib so she didn't wake me up coming into my room. So I moved the baby monitor into the nursery and DD slept there from that point on.
I couldn't get the hang of BF in bed or laying down, so I wasn't getting that much of an advantage from having LO in the room with us other than watching her sleep/breathe, and she was such a noisy sleeper that I was losing even more sleep by having her in there, so I"m glad we moved her out when we did.

My LO was in a bassinet in our room and we moved her out at 1 1/2 months. She was getting too tall for her bassinet (the sides were mesh and she would move up against them when she slept, but the mesh wasn't very far up on the bassinet so when she got bigger she wasn't up against it anymore and it freaked me out to have her up against the cloth).
I thought I'd be upset to have her go, but it was really great for all of us to have her in her own room. She and DH are both light sleepers, and I worried over every little noise she made, so we all slept much better with her away!

Oh i love this thread! Sienna is still in a bassinette next to our room. I couldn't put her in our room she makes too many noises when she sleeps. The only reason she's not in her crib is because it's upstairs and she still wakes up often! i'm waiting for her to sleep long stretches for the switch. Hopefully it will happen before her 4 month mark (but it's not looking so great)

I'm so jealous of all of the noisy sleepers! I got no sleep last night because I was constantly checking on her. It wasn't necessary, she sleeps like a champ. She's a silent sleeper and shallow breather so it droves me nuts. I stared at the monitor willing her to move a leg or twitch and finally got up (a few too many times) to make sure she was okay. I'm a fool. We will try again tonight.

We made the switch to his own room and the crib last Friday! If it was up to me he would still be cuddling with me in my own bed, but I think DH had enough hahaha. He's six months old and the transition was surprisingly smooth and he's actually sleeping better!

We're hoping to have him in our room in the pnp for the first week or 2 and then transition him into his crib in his room by the time Hubs goes back to work. We'll see how that goes, though.

PnP in our room for 7 weeks. Then she moved to the crib in her room and was sleeping 10+hrs/night within 4 days.

LO alternates between the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper and our bed. She is 4.5 months. We are moving at the end of the month and going to set up her room then. We want to get her into the crib, but I love having her next to me it's going to be harder to break the habit for me than her!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
She's not here yet, so this could change. But I plan on having her sleep in a bassinet in our room for the first 7-8 weeks and then transition her to her room down the hall after that. I would like her in her own room by the time I go back to work., and we have a video monitor to keep a close eye on her.

2 nights ... we had her in the bassinet in the pack n play. But she moved around and made too much noise so we decided it was best for all of us to move her to her crib.

20 weeks and he is still in a crib in our room, but if we had a bigger house (or if the 2nd bedroom weren't downstairs....plus we don't want to get rid of that guest room), I would have moved his crib this past week, as now he wakes too easily when I am getting ready for bed, etc.
We might keep him in our room for a long time just so that our guests will have a bedroom. We'll see. All of our family is out of town, so it might be weird to not have a guest room for when they want to come to visit.

LO is 4 months old and still in the pnp right next to our bed. I like how easy it is to just reach over when he wakes up. Once he is consistently only waking up once a night (or not at all), I'll move him to his room.

LO slept in a bassinet in our room until about 12 weeks, at which point she outgrew the bassinet and it was time for her crib. We were ready, too, as we weren't sleeping so well with her in our room. She did great with the adjustment, too!
