So far all I've bought LO are her PJ's. Everything else is either hand me downs or gifts. I'm not expecting to have to buy her anything until after her first birthday, and even then she'll probably get lots of clothes as a gift for her birthday.

I started buying them before she was born and I still do! We received a lot of larger sizes (12,, 18, 24 months) as gifts so I don't need to buy much then.

From before she was born. I am not lucky enough to get a sufficient amount of hand me downs/gifts.

I started buying clothes for her when she was 3 months old! My mom shops for her all the time too.

@Andrea: They were mostly shower gifts, I know you didn't want a shower. People love shopping for little girls

@artbee: newborn/baby was pretty good, i still got a bunch of stuff without the shower but those clothes only lasted so long!

I've had to buy most of her clothes - we don't have any friends to receive hand-me-downs from!

I bought right away, we were team green, so I didn't receive any clothes for my shower.

@Andrea: My mom always buys a lot of bigger clothes. She comes home from vacations with gifts that are for LO in toddler sizes. Which she'll probably actually fit into soon....

@artbee: my mom still buys the LO clothes at the start of a new season. the LO needs a ton of clothes for daycare, though, so I still have to buy a lot. my MIL will randomly get us stuff for a 4 or 5 year old. very strange.

I am 34 weeks and just bought her a sleeper and two pairs of leggings.
Most of what we have are hand-me-downs or gifts from showers and we are pretty much set until 9 months.
I just need to buy neutral pieces to put outfits togehter, like black/gray leggings, and white/black sweaters. So much of what she has is bright colored and patterned, it needs to be toned down for my taste!

We have hand me downs but not a ton and not all of them are in the right season. I've already started accumulating clothing, filling in sizes she needs in season. For next year etc. I have been picking stuff up when I see them cheap like under $3-4 each.
We actually didn't get a ton of clothing at the shower which I'm glad about. And most of them were NB/0-3/3-6 months.

i had to buy them right away because she was too small for all the clothes we had (that my mom bought) since she was born early. now i keep buying footed rompers in bigger sizes since those are her pjs.
we didn't get any hand-me-downs, so i bought a big bag of used clothes, and now i supplement with one off items that she needs (like a spring jacket). i did buy two dresses recently though because i want to have some cute outfits for birthday parties!
overall i have been very good though!

After she was born. We were Team Green, so no bunch of clothes at the shower...which is a good thing now since a lot of her winter clothes she didn't wear since there was't really a winter.LOL

We got a bunch of clothes for gifts after my son was born, I really didn't have to buy anything, but a lot of it wasn't my style so I bought stuff regularly throughout his first year.
No hand me downs either, first on my side and my SIL's stuff is all crap.
eta: that sounded mean, but it's not meant that way...she buys her kids stuff at cheaper places and the stuff doesn't wear well. So, the stuff she did give me, I donated. It looked too worn out to use again.
