LO loves blueberries! I can't wait to start giving her strawberries and raspberries, but I'm a little nervous.
When did you give your LO berries?

The doctor said berries were ok, except strawberries until she's 1. My mom's allergic, her eyes get all puffy when she eats a lot of strawberries, and I don't want that to happen to LO. But it doesn't stop my mom from eating them still....

LO loves blueberries...
Are strawberries a no-no? The seeds? Allergic? I didn't know!

@Rubies: I have no idea why strawberries are a no no! I'm actually thinking about peeling the outside seeedy layer since strawberries are one of the "dirty dozen." and letting LO try them when they're in season! Yum!

@Rubies: I assumed it was allergy reasons. But @chopsuey119's LO is already almost one, so there shouldn't be an issue there!

@artbee: Your mom is so funny. Seriously though, I'd have a hard time resisting strawberries too.

@chopsuey119: It took her so long to realize she was allergic. She finally put two and two together because her face would always puff up after the strawberry festival! It doesn't cause her any pain though, so why not?

Pretty much from the beginning...6 months or so. I didn't know they were a no-no. She absolutely loves strawberries and likes raspberries.

We've let LO have them from the beginning (of starting solid foods). He has never had an issue with them and loves berries of all kinds.

oh, i didn't know that strawberries were a no no item. At LO's 9 month appt, the dr. told us he could have berries. I took that to mean he could have all types of berries. I never got around to buying strawberries until last week - so his first strawberry was around 11 months. I buy organic but only wash - don't peel the skin. maybe i should.

I didn't realise strawberries were a no no either! So I guess we shouldn't have fed 10.5 month old LO strawberry from DH's plate on the weekend. Oops.

I think we did all berries around 8 months. It was the peak of summer, so I just did one at a time, to no adverse reactions.
Berries can be acidic, which could be irritating at that age, but since I wasn't also doing tomatoes or citrus, I felt okay with the tiny amount he was eating.
