Just curious. I thought the ped said 4 months but DH said j misheard (and I'm hoping I did too, 4 months seems way too early!) I was thinking around a year.

We just started the other day at six months. Breastmilk will still be the main source of food for awhile though.

We started at 5 months...I think 6 months is the recommendation of the AAP.

My peds just said 4 months, too. She said the recommendation changed from 6 months recently? I started at 5.5 months with my first. Not sure when I am going to start with my second.

Some do 4 but it is not recommended.
6m is. We started about 10 days before he turned 6m. We do purees and some melts...nothing too serious yet...and the sippy was a fail.

My pedi said we could start rice cereal at 4 months. We waited until after 6 months and started with solids.

We kinda started at 6.5 months but it was so occasional I just say we delayed until 10 months.
Kellymom has some fantastic info regarding delaying solids & infant/toddler nutrition!

We will start at six months. I can't find any compelling reason to start earlier than that (unless baby is having trouble gaining weight which isn't an issue in this house!) and there are lots of compelling reasons to wait.

We started with my first around 11 months, my second was 9 or 10 months. We haven't started with my 3rd since he's not really showing any signs of readiness yet (he's 8mths tomorrow).

We started right at 6 months but she barely ate anything so we didn't push it. Our pediatrician recommended 6 months.

We started at 5.5 months. We were cleared to start at 4 months but she wasn't quite ready, at 5.5 months she was definitely ready!

We're going to start about a week past six months (we have visitors when she actually turns six months and would rather not deal with the two things together).

We will be starting at 6 months. Our doctor discourages rice cereal since it's empty calories.

We started at a shade over five months, Miss A went from showing no interest in food at all to being all over it within about two weeks!
We started by giving her slices of raw apple to gnaw on (she had two teeth) followed by steamed broccoli and mashed banana but I didn't start getting consistent with it till she turned six months. Now I try to do a "meal" each day which usually consists of a small amount of puréed fruit or veg, a slice of fruit and a few grates of cheese.
One thing to remember is that solids aren't that necessary in terms of nutrition but they are important developmentally (motor skills, chewing etc)

We started at 5.5 months... We are going super slow -- just an ounce or maybe two a day. He's just over 6 months now. If he doesn't feel like eating, whatever - but he is into it! Loves certain items more than others!

We gave DD a few bites of applesauce a day beginning at 5.5 months but just for fun. We haven't tried any more foods because she is going through a bout of brochiolitis and her ped wants her on breastmilk only until it has cleared.

We started just after 6 months. We went slowly and initially started with just one meal of solids per day, and then built up steadily until 1 year when we completely weaned from bottles and DD was really eating mostly solids like a big girl.

We'll be starting at 5.5 months...mix of BLW and purees

We started at 6.5 months. LO was premature and I was in no rush to start solids because I've heard starting solids too early can lead to childhood obesity.
