OMG, that's "fun" for you? at least they weren't guessing 41-45!

I've always looked my real age until a couple of years ago when my face went to hell--now I look older. I still have my figure but I acquired some serious wrinkles from crying, working 80 hours a week, sleeplessness, motherhood, and bad genes.

Immediately after having kids. True story.

@Iced Tea: same- I definitely have aged especially after my second was born. But I think I still look younger than my 37 years. At dinner recently I was the only one carded for drinks- though I most definitely don’t look 20!!!

When I had kids. Five years ago I was 33 and got ID’d all the time, and then I had a baby and fell apart.

In the last year I think I am looking my age although sometimes people will ask me and are surprised I’m 5-8 years older than they thought. Last month I found my first gray hair right in the front. It’s maybe 2 inches long. This past week I noticed my neck is turning into old person soft wrinkly skin. Looking at wedding pictures now DH and I look so young now.

@Iced Tea: yes! I've always looked younger than my age, people who didn't know me thought I was a teen all through my 20s. The kids aged me real fast, I look 10 years older than I am now. I don't know if I will ever look my age, I have not had one good night's sleep since the oldest was born. (Poor DH. He's never said anything, but I'm so not the girl he married).

@looch: me too! I'm 35, I talk very openly about my age and always will.

this sounds a little crazy but I actually think it's kind of anti-feminist for women to be guarded and secretive or dishonest about age. it's real life and it's nothing to be embarrassed about. I think the whole "a lady doesn't tell" attitude is the kind of bullshit that sells $150 bottles of SK-II Essence/snake oil and makes us feel ashamed of ourselves when we could be proud. that said, I don't *love* that my face is all wrinkled

I think I've looked younger for most of my life until recently. My eye wrinkles and gray hairs are doing me in now. (34)
People always guess DH as much older than me though even though we're the same age. Not sure if thats good for me or bad for him.

@LCTBQE: @looch: I agree, I’m always open about my age and I think it’s weird for people to be embarrassed or for it to be considered rude! It’s a number we have no control over, it is what it is. It’s not like asking someone’s weight or salary!

So I think for the most part people still guess I’m a lot younger than my age. I’m 36 and I still have strangers think I’m mid-late twenties and can’t believe I have 2 kids. However, I have had a couple people recently guess mid 30s. I’ve stopped dyeing my grays and I have a substantial amount so I think that’s the main factor.

I always looked younger Than my age until the last two years. Too much stress and medical conditions along with no sleep from ds (7 mo). I’m showing serious wrinkles and dry skin. How do I fix the wrinkles without Botox?

I've always looked young for my age. I guess it can be nice sometimes, but at other times I feel like it can be harder to get respect at work. I work at a university and was covering an event recently, and someone asked if I was a student... I also got carded at a wedding in October, and I had left my ID in the hotel room. My husband had to order my drinks at the bar, and no one else was carded.

@MrsSCB: Hah hah, this is me. Also work at a university, get mistaken as a student all the time, and get carded when no one else does. I'm 35. However, reading this thread made me think I need to go look in the mirror now, to assess just how much the last 3 months with my baby have aged me

I definitely think I look my age now. I didn't get carded last week when I was out with some colleagues. The waitress actually carded two of them, and didn't card me or one other. It was kinda sad. I do get asked frequently what my major is, but that is probably only because I work at a university.

Ha, I still don't! I'm turning 40 later this year, and most people guess that I'm in my mid to late 20s. Even with glasses, crow's feet, and sleep deprivation. Some people say to be thankful I look younger, but it's always annoyed me. I want credit for the life experience I've got, especially in the professional arena.

I think when I turned 30. I'm 36 now and while I think my skin is in decent shape, I definitely have more lines. As weird as it may be, though, I kind of love the crinkles around my eyes -- like they add character.

@pwnstar: I don’t think you can use that when breastfeeding correct? Do you have to have a prescription for it?

I am slightly on the young side for Kids in my group, I am 34 and my oldest 3. But not young to have kids in general. It's just NYC. People always assume I am a bit older, but I blame that...

I have always read as older. It was nice in my late 20's to start to be closer to the age people thought I was.
