When did you move from just feeding your infant every 2-3 hours to having a specific bedtime every night?

I don't think we were on a schedule until LO was.. 2.5-3 months old?
It's all a blur! Scary that I have to go through all of it again in a few months!

I think we had a pretty consistent bedtime around 1 month. It was somewhere between 5 and 6 pm.

I think I started realizing around 3-4 weeks that LO starts her longer periods of sleep around 8-9pm. At that point her daytime naps were 30 minutes to 1.5 hours during the day but every day for a week she would start a 2-3 hour sleep stretch at around 830 so I took that as her internal bedtime and tried to start a bedtime routine.

We started around one month. Like @ElisaT: we just noticed when she started sleeping long stretches and used that as our bedtime. We usually get her down between 8:30-9.

Not until 7/8 weeks no matter how early I started her "routine" she would not fall asleep earlier! Finally I started to notice she won't fall asleep till 9/10 pm. So I gradually moved her routine 30mins later till we came to a happy medium where she was not fussing and I was not getting frustrated.
Generally I've been starting her routine at 8 since about 7/8 weeks. She'll be 10 on Saturday but this week I notice her start to fuss around 7:30. So hopefully she's telling me she's ready to go to bed earlier???

We started having real bedtimes when LO was 2 months old. It wasn't truly set until 3.5 months.

6 weeks we started putting her down at around 8. Now she is 3 months and is ready for bed by 7-7:30 and goes down easily after bath time.

At 6 weeks I tried to start putting her down around the same time, but just the past 5 days (she is now 7 weeks, 4 days) has it really been sticking. She goes down around 7, and then sleeps three 4 hour stretches after that.
I noticed that she is a much happier baby the earlier we put her down. At 5 weeks she started crying every night from 7-9 at night and was literally inconsolable. We realized that if we get her down before that, we totally bypass the fussiness.

@mrsdaredevil. So how do you put LO down? Mine is 6 wks and there's no way I could get her to sleep if ate wasn't ready. I feel like every day is a toss up and doesn't follow any pattern.

Somewhere around 6 or 8 weeks we decided that baby would go to bed between 7 and 8 PM. She caught on within a week or so, and it gave DH and I some time to eat dinner and have some us time after baby was already asleep.

@BeachMama: I know your question wasn't directed at me, but when we started LO's bedtime routine at 6 weeks, we found that feeding her, giving her a bath, putting her in her swaddle and rocking her every night at the same time, got her body ready to sleep and it worked really well.
