LO is 10 weeks and she will tolerate being worn for short periods of time, but I'm wondering if she might like it better with her legs out. She always pushes her legs straight as I wrap her. Is she old enough for me to try with her legs out?

Okay, thanks all! I think I'll try then. I'm using a Moby right now and their guidelines on this are a bit fuzzy.

I went with legs out at birth ( the recommendation now.) It took some practice to get the hang of it when I used a wrap or my RS. The SSC I used has a nice built in insert that made it really easy to get legs out right away.

@Dagny: I've been wrapping legs out with the moby for the last week- M is 1 month and 11lbs. Much comfier and I think I've read that legs out are now recommended from birth (for moby, ktan etc, not the structured carriers that require an insert).

Oh wow, I had no idea! With LO1 the recommendation at the time was feet in for newborns. I'm glad I asked!

My LO was the same way (pushing to stand in the moby) so I started legs out (but knees above hips) around ten weeks I think. A baby wearing expert at a local store said some babies just prefer it.
@Mrs. Oatmeal: @MrsB2012: @oliviaoblivia: I had no idea this was the recommendation now! Good to know since I'll be wearing this new baby soon enough.

@Foodnerd81: DD1 isn't even three yet and tons of recommendations are different from when she was born.

@oliviaoblivia: I already feel like my mom, being so behind on what's what.

Yeah, current recommendation is legs out from day 1! Most educators will agree if your baby is still REALLY balled up (as in truly never un-bends their knees on their own) keeping legs in is fine as long as they are "sitting" or placing any weight on their feet or ankles. This won't last more than a few weeks and is most common with babies who are born a bit early.

@Dagny: I started carrying LO with legs out in a FWCC starting at 3 weeks in a woven wrap. Just as an example:
