I turn in my paperwork today and I'm torn about setting a definite date, or leaving it blank and starting my leave when I go into labor!

That was my plan with all of mine. My first two I literally worked they day I went into labor. My third I worked 12 hour nights up until 2 days before I delivered and that was because there was a big snow storm and they didn't want to have to call someone in if I went into labor. Otherwise I think I would have gotten another shift in:)
I wanted to use all of my leave days with the baby!

On paper it was on my due date. I really took it a week before because LO came early. I wanted to save all my days since we were not using FMLA ony paid vacation and sick.

I was on maternity leave 6 weeks before my due date. I had to get an exception, because normally the requirement is that you are out 10 weeks before.

Mine is also my due date on paper, but they said just call with the actual start date and they'll change it.

Mine is my EDD on paper. Unless something goes wrong I will be working all the way up to it!

@mrsmenow: I know, right? It had a 7 month leave, becasuse I had over 11 years of employment with the firm. Standard mat. leave in Switzerland is also 3 months, but it is up to each employer.

My plan was when I went into labor but 3 days before I had M I knew it was coming and I was super uncomfortable so I started it a few days early.

Mine was the day before my due date, but I ended up going out 3 days before. And then not delivering until a week after my due date. But I was having intense contractions and didn't feel safe commuting to work.

Mine was the day after due date, since my due date was a Sunday, but I was going to work up until I went into labor. My water broke on Sunday night, so that Monday, LO birthday, was my official start date.

I plan on working up until my due date so I'll probably write my due date. However, I plan on working from home the last couple of weeks since work to my delivering hospital is about an hour commute and I don't drive! I ride public transportation so it'd actually be longer. No thank you!

@littlebug: @Alivoo01: I didn't even think about my commute! Its nearly an hour long each way, and also an hour in the other direction from the hospital.

we kind of left it open. my goal was to work until the baby came. boss ended up letting me work from home all of nov and part of oct (i was due nov 18)... my last projects wrapped up the week before my due date, so i stopped working that wk. i had baby on wed before thanksgiving, so i took "two days off" prior to baby being here

My scheduled last day was the Friday before my scheduled c-section on Tuesday. In reality, I ended up going into labor one week before my scheduled c-section, so I worked up until I went into labor!

Worked until delivery. But my pregnancy was pretty easy, even at the end I wasn't that uncomfortable. I wanted to have as much time on maternity leave as possible. I think I will do the same in the future too!

I went on maternity leave the day before I was due b/c I went into labor! My plan was to work up until labor, and I did just that!

35 weeks with twins. I was paranoid about preterm labor and just wanted to chill at home to increase my odds of making it to term. Worked a little too well and made it to 39 though

I am planning my official maternity leave to start approx 10 days prior to my due date, but I'm taking 6 weeks annual leave before that! So, I'll be 33 weeks when I finish work.
However my employer does have a slightly strange rule whereby if I give birth while on Annual Leave I have to notify them and they move my Maternity leave date forward to the birth date... not totally sure why this 'matters' but hopefully that scenario won't happen anyway.

I was put on bedrest at 33 weeks. And was induced at 37 weeks so I've been off 6 weeks this week and have almost another 4 weeks left. So, I will end up being off a total of 10 weeks when I go back.

I worked the day I went into labor. I wanted to save all my PTO for after LO arrived. However, I had the luxury of working from home the last few weeks which made it a lot easier to keep working until the end (a week past my due date) when I didn't have to shower or talk to anyone and could lay on the couch part of the day.

with CA, we get 4 weeks before our due date with disability, so i went out about 3.5 weeks beforehand. it was awesome.

I was induced on a Thursday and started leave Wednesday. I had been working from home since week 38, though
