When did you do it? Earlier or later than recommended? What factored into your decision. How did the move go?
Have to decided not to transition yet? If so, why?

We moved her at 4 months. DH wanted her to stay in our room until 6, but she was in the RnP and we realized that was a bigger SIDS risk than her sleeping out of our room (it's not really, but the Isis lady said "AAP recommends a flat surface, blah blah blah..."), so just transitioned to the crib instead of a PnP in our room (which would've forced another transition)!

C was 6 weeks. We didn't even really discuss it, she had been reay cranky and Dh was bouncing her to sleep for a long time and when she finally went out, he just put her down in her room and closed the door. I was really nervous that first night but it was such a smooth transition. We do have the video monitor which makes it so much easier, plus we share the wall behind the head if our bed so even if te monitor broke or something I can still hear when she cries. You can always try it for a night or two and if its not working for you, go back to the old way. Nothing's permanent. For the first week I kept the RnP in our room while she slept in the crib just in case.

7 months. She slept in the PnP next to our bed and we loved having her in there! She's always been a great sleeper (STTN 12 hr stretches from 10 weeks onwards, despite being EBF), and wasn't a noisy sleeper so it never bothered us any. She also was very used to our noises, so our getting ready for bed, having a night time chat, and reading before bed with the bedside lamps on never woke her.
I don't know if there's a correlation or not but LO never went through any sleep regressions either, maybe because she knew we were right there? Not sure but either way, we're planning on keeping baby #2 with us for at least six months as well.

5 weeks, but I moved in shortly after. We had a full sized bed in the nursery, as it was also previously our guest room.

Right around 6 months. We were in between houses so before moving we just kept her in our room. We moved her into her crib around 6-8 weeks? If we weren't in between houses I would've put her in her own room at that point.

LO has always been a great sleeper, so it was fine for all of us to have her in the pack n' play in our room for the first 6 months. At the 6 month point, we just got the feeling she wasn't as comfortable in the p n' p anymore and needed some more room/would benefit from the more supportive mattress of her crib. It was way more of an adjustment for me, she sleeps great in her room.

3 months! Before that he was in a bassinet in our room, but the bassinet said not to use it past 3 months, so he moved into his crib in his nursery after that.

8 weeks! He was just too noisy and none of us were getting any sleep! I wanted to keep him in our room until the recommended 6 months, but the girls here gave me the courage to transition him into his nursery early and so far so good!

We had her in the nursery right from the start. I did sleep on the floor of the nursery for the first three weeks though. We wanted to get her used to sleeping in her nursery from the start since it would be one less transition to go through.

Five months when she outgrew her cosleeper. We would have like to have had her in with us longer, but it was no longer safe.

I think we did it at 4 weeks which is when he outgrew his bassinet. I miss having him next to me but he sleeps so well in his own room!

At 3 months.
We had her in a bassinet in our room until I went back to work. Then, we transitioned her to her crib at 3 months. It was easier to have her a little further away to help us get her on a schedule.

Around 3 months I think? I wasn't ready though but got a lot of pressure. I'm keeping this baby in our room until I'm ready not everyone else. DH was on my side too.

Around 3 months. They both shared a crib in our room and at that point, we were still doing a 10/11 p.m. dream feed. To transition us (more than them), we would put them down in their nursery crib at bedtime and then after the dream feed, we'd move them into the crib in our room. So little by little, they started sleeping more of the night in their nursery.

We cosleep and DS1 just recently moved to his own bed, at 4 years old. DS2 is 20 months and still in our bed.

We started crib training at 11.5 months, but it took her a few weeks before she was no longer coming into bed with us at midnight. So, about 1 year or slightly more. We used the RnP in our room, then the bassinet on the PnP, and then we coslept in our bed.

I did it differently with both of my LOs. DD was moved to her own room at like 9 months or so, but she still ended up in our bed every night. The big transition with CIO happened when she was about 14 months old, when we moved into a new house and she was far away.
DS moved to his own room at about 5.5 months old, and we did CIO and he slept so well after that.

We randomly tried at 8 weeks, but she wasn't ready. She slept in the RNP beside our bed. I started doing naps in the crib to prep her around 10 weeks, and by 11 weeks she was sleeping in there all night. So glad we did it (relatively) early. She sleeps great in there & I have my room and bed to myself!

LO was sleeping in the bassinet portion of the pack 'n play. He started to outgrow it at 2 weeks, and at that point I decided to transition him into his crib in his room. It was a smooth transition, and he has been in his room ever since.

DD always napped in her crib. At around 8wks she went down for a nap around 5 and slept 10hrs. She always slept in her room after that.

10 weeks, however she was sleeping outside our room at 6 weeks (right outside the bedroom door. She was a loud sleeper which caused me to not sleep, she woke up every time one of us moved, and we realized once we moved her 10 feet away, that we all slept better! We moved her into her crib at 10 weeks, before she was in her rock n play.

We bed-share. Ellie slept with me until age 4.5, and Lorelei still does at 18 months.

Probably 3 weeks? She was a noisy sleeper and would wake us in her sleep... So off she went to her own room.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
8 weeks. It went very well. She sleeps 10-11hrs instead of 8-9, and we don't have to tiptoe around her. I also think her crib is way comfier than the PnP!

@lavender: ditto - about 3 weeks.
We realised that she was a loud sleeper (waking me up constantly) and was also easily woken up by us (me) in the bed next to her pack and play. It was nice in the very beginning, plus I was paranoid and also wanted to just look at her all the time... but it was miserable for all of us pretty quickly.
Then not too long after she started sleeping in the swing for a few months there and that was out in the living room - so we put the monitor out there those nights, and moved it back to her nursery if she was sleeping in her crib.

You might want to enable multiple answers for those with more than one... our first went to his room at 6 months, we sleep trained, the whole 9 yards. Our second is about to turn 1 and still is in our room, in a sidecar. EEK, how are we going to get her out of there? Don't want to "train" this time.

Night three home from the hospital. We were basically living in the living room and LO was sleeping on us or in the swing. One night around 3am I just decided to lay her down in her crib instead. We have a couch in the nursery so I slept on that for a few nights before retreating to my own bed. Both nursery and bedroom doors open. About six steps from my bed to her crib. It ended up working wonderfully for us.

We did it at 4 months. We moved into a new house when she turned 4 months, and it seemed silly to set up a nursery at our old house when we were just about to move anyway... so she just slept in our room until the move.

DS was 4 months. we would have moved him sooner, but it was super hot out and we only had 1 fan and all the stores were out of fans(seriously!) so we kept him in our room until it cooled down. DD is still in our room at 2 months, but we just got her crib today! she'll probably be in our room until 3 months, if not a little earlier, she's a noisy sleeper!

I think it was between three and four months. It happened gradually where we started putting him more and more in the crib for naps and then for the night. He outgrew his P&P bassinet pretty early on.
His room is right next to ours though, so we hear him if he starts crying during the night. He still gets up between 1-3x a night - we haven't sleep trained yet.

About 7 months. I'm a teacher and I we moved him after summer vacation so I didn't wake him up in the mornings. He always STTN in our room and he probably didn't even notice the switch to his own!

We kicked him out after his 1 month appointment, we all slept better after we did that.
