12 hours after she was born-my parents and one sister. To be fair, though, they were coming from out of state at the last minute. I was shocked and thrilled to see them at all!

My mom was present for the birth of DS and my FIL was waiting in the waiting room. He insisted on coming into the delivery room to see DS before he would go home. It was super awkward. He proceeded to stay and "visit" (ie: hang out and watch t.v.) for over six hours the next day as well. Ugh.

DS was born at 5:15, my parents came that afternoon. DH's parents did as well. I was happy we didn't allow any other visitors.

Only my mom and step dad came because I was in rough shape, family lives far, and I was supposed to go home sooner than I did. My mom got there probably right as he was born around 630 pm and came in to meet him at 8 once I was done being stitched.

my parents came to the hospital while I was in labor. they came up after I had her and was cleaned up. everyone else had to wait til the next day's visiting hours at noon!

My mom and sister were there during the delivery. I had him at 3pm and we had our first visitors at 6pm as soo. As we were moved to our room. Next time people are going to have to wait longer. That was way too much for me! We had close to 10 people in our tiny room!

My parents and both sisters were in the waiting room when LO was born and they came in the room maybe 30 minutes after. All friends came the day after.

Ughhh this was a major point of contention for me. Both sets of parents knew we were heading to the hospital because it was Mother's Day and we had to cancel plans with them because of it. They were all specifically told NOT to come until we called them, and promised to call and let them know once/if we had been admitted. When I got there I wasn't quite dilated enough to be admitted and they told me to walk around for awhile. A half an hour later my ILs started blowing up our phones, DH texted that I wasn't admitted and again, he would call once I was. They called 15 minutes alter to say they were on their way, and I made them drive their asses back home. I was basically walking around the lobby in tons of pain and had made it crystal clear I did not want company.

After LO was born (and I was in labor for over 24 hours, so joke was on my ILs for trying to show up early to not miss anything) by emergency c-section, we let visitors into the recovery room two at a time, during which point my MIL started taking a bunch of pictures WITH FLASH less than a foot away from my newborn's face even when I told her to stop.

Obviously, next time will go differently based on what I now know about who can and can't respect our decisions/requests.

Mom, MIL and FIL were were there during L&D...mom from the beginning, ILs came sometime between me getting the epidural at 5cm and getting checked again at 7.

First visitor that wasn't there for the birth came around 3 hours after I had him. She probably would have been in the room too, if allowed, but she had to work and couldn't take off.

My parents and in-laws hadn't heard from us that morning (my induction took about 28 hours) so they headed to the hospital to wait for news. Turns out the babies has been born and they were being wheeled to the nursery with my husband when our parents walked into the L&D area. They got to watch through the glass while the babies were being bathed and checked out. I didn't get to see the babies for a couple hours (they were fine but I wasn't) so I was sort of upset that the grandparents got to see them before I did. We had a plan to text them all when we were all together and had had a chance to breastfeed, etc. but that didn't really work out.

My water broke at 1am and I was admitted at 2. We called all of our parents and siblings to let them know we were in for the real deal (I was only 37 weeks, surprise). DS arrived at 10:30am that morning. I didn't know until after he came but we had my mom, mil and her husband, fil and his wife and siblings all waiting.

My hospital had a 1 hour waiting period after LO arrived to allow anyone in the room max 4 people at a time. Since I didn't get an epi was showered before anyone came in at 12:00. So we took an hour and a half as a family.

Lo 1, when I was admitted but they stayed in the waiting room until an hour after she was born. Lo#2, after she was born. She came very fast so they didn't have time to get there.

DS was born at 9:36pm and even though I could have visitors anytime I didn't have visitors until 11am that dolling morning

We asked for one hour of alone time before my family came to visit. DS was born at 6:45pm, everyone came around 8pm.

@Espion: no. I was feeling overwhelmed and he was aggravating me during labor so I sent him out. The plan was for him to come back in when I started pushing but since she fell out he didn't make it in time.

About 18h after LO was born my sister came by as a first visitor. Present for birth was DH only.

lo was born at 10.56pm, my mum and dh were in the room with me throughout labor and delivery. I had my first visitor around 9.30am the next morning.

My parents came to the hospital as soon as I called them and told then my water broke and I was on the way there. Mom was afraid my labor would be super short like hers. So they were in the waiting room all night long. By the time R came, the ILs and my sister were there. So all came in to meet her about 2 hours after she was born.

Our family came around 7, after I was admitted at about 5. I didn't see anyone until after she was born (at 2:25am)
