My LO got sick the first week she started daycare at almost 4 months old.
I'm worried Baby 2 will get sick a lot sooner since LO goes to daycare!

I should probably knock on wood but -
DS got a little warm after his shots once, but didn't complain. He just slept a little more than he usually does and I gave him Tylenol. When he got his two front teeth up top he had a bit of congestion but it went away within 24 hours.
He's 13 months and has never had a cold.
I don't know if this contributes to anything but he was breastfed until 11 months, I don't over sanitize things, and he doesn't go to daycare (but plays at the playground with kids and goes to the office with daddy daily).

The week she started daycare, as well. She hasn't been well for more than 1 week since. I hate daycare with such a fiery passion, it is not even funny.

I believe he got his first cold that turned in to an ear infection at 5 months and has 3 since! he's also had the stomach flu, and hes not in daycare, just hangs around his big cousin lol

She has yet to be sick (knock on wood), she is almost 5 months old.

It took her about 3 weeks from being in daycare, so she was about 3 months old. She caught a stomach bug and we had to take her to the ER.
@mediagirl: I know the feeling. I'm about to make the budget really tight so I can move DD out of daycare and with a nanny. I'm desperate for her to stay well.

@BabyBoecksMom: oh I am so jealous. I wish we could do that so much. The hardest part for me is she keeps getting US sick and we're miserable along with her.

LO got sick a week or two after starting daycare. Nothing bad, just runny nose.

@mediagirl: DH is strongly against getting a nanny, he likes the "structure and curriculum" that daycare gives LO. I don't know what it's like for LO to not have a runny nose or cough.

@mediagirl: I'm right there with you too. E got sick the first week at daycare and it's been a constant stream of runny noses (pardon the pun) and coughs since then... for all three of us. They're horrible at getting him to nap even though he's on a great schedule on days that he's home. I so wish we could afford a nanny.

DD got sick the first time at about 4months - 2months after starting daycare.
DS got sick at 4months from just general germs since neither of them are in daycare anymore.

@kiddosc: Ditto your napping issue. They can finally get him down for 3 naps all 30 minutes which is better than the nothing he was getting before. but on the weekend he has monster naps.

@littlek: yea, he's starting sleeping 13-14 hours overnight and I think it's to make up for the fact that he gets so little sleep during the day. He will also take two 2-3 hour naps on weekends. I know they try, but he's such a nosy guy that he can't settle when there's things to see in the room... which there always is. I don't know what the solution is, I keep hoping he'll grow out of it.

O is exclusively breastfed, I stay home and she has had her first cold for over a week now
I don't overdo cleaning and sanitizing but with the flu I've been very careful, so I'm convinced it's other people that touch her without washing! I just don't understand what goes through people's minds.

The first day she started daycare. Seriously. She was in there for three hours that afternoon, at home the next day, and was coughing by Wednesday night. She's been sick pretty much constantly since then.

7 months old, the week I weaned and started formula a couple times a day...!! The first 6 months or so he was in daycare he was sick pretty much every week. Now, about a year later, he almost never gets sick. He constantly has a runny nose but hasn't had a fever in a long time. I think the last time was when he had roseola, over half a year ago.

Two days after his first birthday and he had been in daycare since he was 12w old. His daycare momma is very diligent about hand washing for everyone who comes into the house and the babies don't touch each other (nor do the older siblings who come to pick up babies)

Around 4-5 weeks old? DH caught a cold and despite our best efforts DS ended up with a runny nose. That was it until he started daycare at 4 months old.

Right around 8 weeks . . . I took LO for a play date with a 7 and 4 month old, not remembering that the 7 month old (and her Mommy) had older school-aged siblings. Not only did LO get sick, but both DH and I got sick, too. It was a nasty cold, and I hope to never go through that again.

She is 10 months and is suffering as we speak.... Not n daycare yet but she caught it from her cousins who go to daycare. MIL was watching them last Friday and asked me to stop by for a visit...... She didn't tell me the little guy was sick and now E has it bad :(.

@mediagirl: I'm still having to fight hard to get DH on board with it. We're trying to save up a down payment for a bigger house in a better school district. So if we get a nanny now, it's going to delay us moving for an additional 3 years. It's hard to decide which is the better alternative.
@kiddosc: I'm right there with you on the nonexistent napping at daycare, due to the colds. As well as always being sick because your LO shares the colds with you. It's SOOO frustrating!!!!!

DD 1 first got sick when she started daycare at 8 months (stomach bug!). DD 2... had a cold at around 8 weeks... was so heartbreaking because she was so tiny and had a bad cough for a while. I do think it was because she was exposed to more since DD 1 was going to preschool at the time

11 weeks LO got a cough and cold for3/4 days (then I got super sick and DH got sick).., I EBF also. I am pretty sure my husbands friends wife got him sick. She was over after working all day (in a mall) and I had her wash her hands. But she was all over LO and 2 days later he was sick. Ugh.
