When they walk?
My almost 18 month old throws herself to the ground when we try to hold her hand. We end up carrying her or put her in the stroller when we are out in busy places.

Sounds like an independence phase! I think my DD was around 14 months when she started holding hands, but she has her stubborn/independent times when she will refuse!

He's held my hand since we've let him walk independently anywhere outside the house - he probably had the confidence/balance to do so around 14ish months? My issue is just that he walks so sloooowly because he has to inspect everything, so we usually end up carrying/strolling him anyway.

Started around 14 months or so. But consistently? Just in the past month or so, and she's 17 months. If she's excited or tired or grouchy, she's still not great about it and has to be carried.

Probably around 18 months. We'd go look for puppies on a walk after daycare. Because it's on the road she'd have to hold my hand or she wouldn't get to look for puppies.

DS hated holding hands at that age too. Closer to when he turned 2 was when it started to be much better.

my daughter was so terrible with this that if it was crowded or in a parking lot, we just wouldnt let her walk. At 18 months I realized we couldnt do this forever so we started trying ro train her. We would tell her if she wanted to walk she had to hold our hand. Of course she would throw herself on the floor screaming so I would put her back in the stroller. As soon as she would stop screaming I would ask if she wanted to wAlk, and we would trry again. We did this over and over and we went to the mall every day for a couple hours to practice. Only took a few days (and tons of meltdowns) and she is so much better now.
