My DD is 4 months old and our ped told us she should be showing signs of stranger anxiety soon. We haven't seen it yet so I'm curious to see when your LOs started showing signs of stranger anxiety.

3-5 months was the worst! No one could hold LO but me and DH! He's over it now though and loves everybody.

Around 4 months for Charlie, and maybe 9 months for olive. Olive has generally been better with strangers holding her than Charlie was as a baby.

I heard it starts around 6 months but LO has no issues with anyone holding him or when I leave him at daycare.

A little before 6 months. I miss the days where she just smiled and was content being held by everyone!

It started at 5 months. He developed pretty severe separation anxiety and now when we leave him (grandmas) he cries the entire time as well. It's awful.

Our LO is 8 months, and so far she hasn't really shown any stranger anxiety yet. When she's fussy, she definitely prefers me or DH. I was actually kind of hoping for some stranger anxiety to set in around now as bad as that sounds. Only because DH's big family Christmas get together is coming up, and I know a lot of them (who we barely even know and have never even spoken to me) are going to want to hold her and pass her around the whole time, and that'd be a nice excuse to give her a break from it all. Is that mean?

DS had a little bit of stranger anxiety at 5 months old. We had been away from family for a month and went home to visit. He cried when my grandpa tried to hold him! It didn't last long.

A little before 6 months. She's a few days away from 7 months and we're starting to see it subside.

The day he turned 6 months...and it's still going strong. But really, he only seems to freak out around older women who are in his face (I.e. my mom and MIL). He is generally ok with anyone else as long as I'm nearby.

@Mrs. Bee: Wow 4 months! When our ped asked me if DD had stranger anxiety (at 4 months) I thought it was too early. But she said there are babies that starting showing stranger anxiety as early as 4 months.

It started at about 6 months, but it isn't really bad, anyone can hold him as long as I am in view. He whines when he wants me to take him back, so he has good cues.
