Do you bring your own baby food, not feed your LO or get them something off the menu they can eat? We just started purées last week and we like to go out to eat once a week or so. Not sure what to do. I think we may go out to dinner tonight!

P always ate some of what we ate, I'd just give her REALLY little pieces at first!

We did blw so he ate what I are. I have seen people bring purees too. So whatever you are most comfortable with. Or just toys (feed baby before).

We go out a few times a week- in the early days we just brought purees and bottles of pumped milk with us and gave him mushy stuff off our plates. We later moved into small pieces of our food or ordered a small aside of cottage cheese or an egg.
Things that make our lives easier: bring something for LO to snack on while you wait for your food. We started with Mum Mums and puffs, now we bring crackers and Cheerios. It keeps them busy until it's time to explore your food.
We also have a silicone suction cup placemat from BRUS since he makes a huge mess with real food. I have a small backpack that I keep that, a sippy, baby spork, tub of crackers, diaper, and wipes- that stays in the car so it's ready whenever we are.

Before she could feed herself real food, we fed her before we went out to eat and she got puffs or Cheerios to eat and play with while we ate. Now she just gets her own little plate and gets some of each of our meals. Sometimes we will order LO her own meal; usually an appetizer off the adult menu as many of our usual haunts don't have kids menus, and because many kid menus serve junk.

@googly-eyes: they have pouches with attached spoons?? I bought two pouches but I don't think they have spoons. Haven't used them yet!
@lemondrop: I ordered one of those placemats and it just got here yesterday! I also bought some puffs and put some in a Tupperware container in the diaper bag but he hasn't actually tried any yet. Thanks!

I try to feed him before we leave but, he always ends up eating what I get. So, I've learned to always get a side of:
Cottage cheese
Or
Scrambled eggs
Or
Clam chowder
Or
Applesauce..
Just anything really!

@MamaJ: Plus Organics has attached spoons! You can get the spoons from the baby utensils aisle.

Before 1 year I would usually bring baby food from home, but also try to encourage DD to eat some of what DH and I were eating. Now at 14 months, I never bring extra food from home. She eats off the menu.

We've done blw, so I only bring something for him to snack on until the food arrives. Today, I threw an avocado in my bag, then cut it at the table for him. Then I make sure I'm ordering a dish I can easily share with him. At 11 months, he eats almost everything we eat.

When we were still exclusively on purees, we always brought some purée pouches with us and fed LO those. Now that she is 11 months old and quite adept at finger foods, we give her some of whatever we're eating, just being mindful of the salt content.

I always order an entree that has something she can eat. But I also have a purée pouch for back up. Had to use it for the first time Friday bc I didn't realize my chimichanga was quite spicy!

I always try to get something he can eat. I also order some raw veggies and/or fruit to come out with our drinks, usually at no charge.

@regberadaisy: I just ask for stuff like cucumbers or celery or carrots - or if we're getting breakfast I ask for pineapple, cantaloupe, banana, honeydew. I stay away from watermelon b/c it stains
I've never been charged for it.

@TurtleDoves: @googly-eyes: Ahhh ok. I thought they came with the pouch. Thanks!! I will grab some!
