How old was your child when you switched from a baby "all in one" style shampoo to either a kid or adult shampoo?

I switched my oldest right after she turned 2 bc she was getting a lot of hair and it was/is very curly, so now she uses whatever shampoo and conditioner I am using. My youngest is 3 and still has baby fine straight hair and it’s still pretty short, so she still uses baby shampoo bc there’s not much to wash!

My oldest is almost 7 and we still use the baby shampoo for him! Haha. I only do it out of convenience since we also have a 2 year old. Plus we only have one bathroom, only having one bottle for both boys is nice.

@Madison43: pretty much the same answer. I switched my older daughter maybe around three because she has curly hair and I wanted something better for her curls, plus she uses conditioner too. But my almost 3 year old I still use the baby shampoo/ body wash combo because she just has straight regular hair. Although she also has super dry skin so I use cetaphil to wash her and the baby shampoo/ body wash to clean big sister... so their tub is full of bottles.

My stylist suggested switching asap. Baby shampoo is actually super drying. We use a bit of shampoo about every 2 weeks and then just wash her hair with conditioner. Not for everyone but it makes her hair silky soft and actually much cleaner

We used mustela cradle cap shampoo until almost two. Then we switched to sauve scent free kids shampoo and my conditioner, and that is still what we do at 4.

DS is 3 and we still use baby shampoo. Now that we have a 3 month old they both use it.
I honestly hadn’t thought about changing...

LO just turned three, and we are still using the same bottle of baby shampoo that we were gifted at our baby shower. She doesn't take daily baths, however, and we only wash her hair about 1/3 of the time when she does bathe. I hadn't given thought yet to what I will buy when this bottle runs out.

Like a under a year? I never saw the need for specialty shampoo and I hated the way they made his hair smell. We only wash his hair like once a week now if that mostly just let it get wet. And he has long hair and we never had any issues.

@Bluemasonjar: me neither.....but I was thinking the other day the switch happens eventually (you know, since I don't use baby shampoo at 33 :p).
Interesting to see what other people do. Thanks!!

Once he could properly lean his head back and not get it in his eyes. I don’t believe the whole fearless thing completely, but I know he bitches about the baby shampoo less than my shampoo when it gets in his eyes.

My son is 8 I still have a bottle of baby shampoo kicking around so I finally decided to just use it up and be done with it. I can't even remember why I bought it, to be honest, it had to be in the last year or so.

I have a 4 and 2 year old so I still use baby shampoo more for my 2 year old that refuse to tilt her head back so I want to make sure it's tear free, etc. Once DD2 is ready we'll probably move to "adult" shampoo.

I probably should for my 5 1/2 year old but I'm lazy and tired. We still use the all in one stuff. We only wash her hair once a week so its not that big a deal, I guess. But I have a 2 1/2 year old with super whispy baby hair and a newborn and....its fine.

I think around 3 for my DD because she has curly hair like me. She uses my products. My DS will be 8 in a few weeks and he still uses baby shampoo.

@meadow: my son is 2 and we still use mustella shampoo on him. My daughter on the other hand had so much hair by the time she was 6 months that we switched to california baby shampoo and conditioner

We are still using it on my six year old! Maybe she is just lucky but we haven't noticed any problems with it. We only wash hair maybe 2x/wk. She uses real conditioner though.

We switched from the All in one to just shampoo a couple years in, but it could totally just be the same thing in a different bottle
We use the J&J lavender and I want to use it forever! My oldest uses my conditioner now also.

We used it for a long time because of the "tear free" -ness of it. But eventually we had to switch to real shampoo because it was drying out his hair/scalp. I think the new stuff stings his eyes a lot more, so he's more of a pain when it gets to hair washing time. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
