Just curious. I'd always imagined having 2 children and having them close in age. Now that I actually have a child however, I realize that it would be best to have them at least 2 years apart, closer to 3 years. I can't even imagine getting pregnant again now. Our LO is only 4 months old. The experience is still all too vivid for me.
Have you guys begun discussing this?

We also have a 4 month old (Aug. 11 baby), but really there is no way we could afford another one right now. I EBF so that helps, but diapers and clothes and daycare costs would be way too much.
I think once she is 2 years old maybe we will try, but I would like them no more than 3 years apart.

I'm thinking we'd start trying when #1 is 2, but we may start as early as 18 months. I'm opposed to having 2 in diapers, but I may change my mind by then.

@thehistoryofus- We wouldn't be able to afford it either. The cost of daycare is OUT OF CONTROL. But aside from that I think it's manageable. I also like the idea of just experiencing our first baby's firsts, ya know?

My daughter is 5 months today and we hope to be pregnant again in the spring. so they'd end up to be 18 months apart.

@cyneswith- that's a good point too. The idea of changing two baby diapers doesn't sound like fun to me at all.

We originally wanted our kids two years apart. So once our LO's first birthday passed, we decided to start trying. Well, it didn't quite work out that way (i ended up having a miscarriage). So now I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant with #2 and they will be 2 1/2 years apart.

@banana: I think 2.5 years apart is great spacing. Far enough apart they can be individuals, but close enough to be friends and play together.

@BabyLove: Yea its really the cost of daycare. We pay almost $1,000/month for an infant. Even if we wanted to go somewhere else, its hard to find some place good for less than $800.

I'm due in June with my first, and I think we'll wait until that baby is at least 2 to try again. Probably closer to 2.5. I need some time to accrue more sick leave at work for a second maternity leave, and would like to try and have a baby in the second half of the year next time so the majority of my pregnancy/birth medical expenses are in one year due to our insurance. So try again late fall of 2014 maybe? But we'll see how the first one goes!

@babylove & @thehistoryofus: I really do hope they grow up being close. My siblings and I are all super close and I hope my LO doesn't miss out on that close sibling relationship. If only I can get my LO out of diapers before #2 comes out!

@thehistoryofus- we pay $225 a week for an infant. The people that can afford to pay that for 2 kids must be making way more than we are!
@habesbabe- I always thought the same thing, until our LO was born and I found out how demanding pregnancy is on our body and how demanding raising an infant actually is.

We're not trying or preventing.. so baby #2 can happen any time. I'm still nursing LO (9 months) but my period's back. I'd like my kids 2-3 years apart.

We wanted ours 2-3 years apart, but we started trying again the month before my daughter turned two. We thought it might take awhile and they might be a bit farther apart than we intended, but TTC in that time frame made more sense for us as far as our life situation.
But instead we got pregnant on the first shot! So they will be a little over 2.5 years apart, which I think is just perfect. A big enough difference that they can have their own friends, but small enough to still be friends with each other.

We want them 2-3 years apart. Not a deciding factor, but my lo is in one size cloth diapers so if we have another too soon we'll have to buy a whole other set of diapers. So I'd like her to be potty trained.

I'm not gonna lie, a part of me doesn't want to get pregnant again. My husband really wants another baby, he even said he wouldn't mind three. I put my foot down on two, though. So, he mentioned trying at the end of next summer/early fall so we can have a late spring or summer baby.

I'm still pregnant with my first but we are talking about when we want to have #2. It all depends on if I get a normal period after he is born (he was conceived with IUI). I'm not holding my breath on that one though, I have never had a normal period. If it doesn't come back we will go back to our RE when he is around 12-18 months old and hopefully within 1 or 2 tries with the fertility meds we will be pregnant again.
