I always thought 3... I worked at a childcare center and when kids turned 3 is when they would start to move on to our preschool rooms so that's just kind of the way I thought too.

@mediagirl: I also base it off what DCP uses
at age 3 they go to the Pre-school room and at age 4 they go to the Pre-K room

At our daycare, they switch from the toddler room to preschool room between 2.5 and 3.....so somewhere in there?

3 makes sense to me. But when does a baby become a toddler? When they turn 1?

I feel like the switch from baby to toddler happens when they start walking, and the switch from toddler to pre-schooler happens when they are potty trained.
