R is almost 12 months old and it's a crapshoot whether she'll lay still for a diaper change or alligator roll.

Uh yea. I'd like to know too. I find that if I give him something he *isn't allowed* he will look at it and contemplate it long enough for me to change a dipe.

It's tough!! Once the kids could stand up, we switched to doing diaper changes standing up and they had no more objections!

@.twist.: haha, maybe I'll hand her my iPhone. I sing to her, give her toys, etc. but what she will stay still for depends on the minute.

When the changing table, you and the baby are covered in poop and you all need a bath? That's when it seems to end for me.

At 12 months, it's actually a teensy bit better-the last couple of months were crazy on the diaper front! If we're at home, I do let him run around and air out for a little while, if it needs to be done quick, he will lie still for Sesame Street on my phone...

Getting a little better these days. Give her a book to read each time.

@mrbee: haha my best friend just told me she started doing dipe changes with him standing up holding on to a table. I'm contemplating this myself.
LO is 10 months and dipe changes are increasingly more difficult. She just wants to be on the move. Like @.twist.: I try to distract with special items that typically are off-limits.

Sigh. It got better for a while around 16 months and now at 20 months it is bad again!!

Another master of the alligator death roll. For diaper changes and clothes. E wrestling occurs at least four to five times daily. Call for schedule.

@swedishfish: she came up with it! Every morning she points to the bookshelf so I get her out and she grabs one. I noticed those sessions go better, even with having to put sunscreen on and changing her outfit. Doesn't work everytime but it helps!

Its worse at 14 months than it was previously, we wrestle until all is wiped then put the new diaper on while standing.

We also use books during most diaper times… also a little photo book of extended family members. She really loves that!

It's bad - LO is 20 months. Sometimes it takes various bribes and two of us to get the job done. I try to grab a book and ask him to find something in the book and that distracts just long enough to get the job done! Haha

We switched to huggies slip ons and do all changes standing up. It's been a godsend.
There are still days, but 90% of the time, it's quick and painless.

@swedishfish: oh yea, sometimes I give him the most random things. iPhone, penatan container, Tylenol bottle (momwin!), keys, plastic hanger.... Haha it seems to work.

Still going strong at 17 months. At 15 months it got A LOT better but it's still a 50/50 shot whether he will my little angel or possessed by an evil spirit.
@swedishfish: Good luck!
@.twist.: We use random things as distractions, too - nasal aspirator, keys!, medicine bottles (instant rattles), paper towels (good for ripping into tiny little pieces), oral syringes, etc.

Lo was doing pretty good but in the last 2 weeks or so it's gotten bad again (almost 21 months)
