When do you guys recommend taking maternity photos? My friend is a photographer and we were all going to be at the beach together when I'm 30 weeks. Now I'm thinking that won't be far along enough, because I still don't have a big bump at 27 weeks! Is 30 weeks too soon?

If I were doing them, I would wait utnil about 34-35 weeks, this gives you a nice bump but you are hopefully still sleeping/feeling well.

My cousin who just graduated from art school is home this weekend, we tenatively scheduled a shoot for two weeks from now when I'll be 28 weeks along.
My bump isn't huge, but I'm still mobile and with the right clothes, looks like a full bump so I think we'll be okay--... if not, she'll do them again around 32 weeks before she moves back to Chi

Most photographers I've looked into recommend doing the pics at 35+ weeks.

I did mine around 32 weeks and I feel that was perfect. It was right before I hand any major swelling and I was still semi comfortable.

id say take them when you have an ample enough bump that you can really show it off. I just took mine at 37 weeks but i know many take them sooner.

I did mine at 28 weeks...I have been pretty large the whole pregnancy. So glad I did at 28 weeks, because if I waited longer I would have been way too tired. I didn't have a single stretch mark until around 33 weeks and they are out of control now--sure she could photoshop out, but just knowing they are there would drive me crazy.

I wanted to take mine at around 36 weeks, but I just took some self portraits last week (at 32 weeks) and I look huge: http://www.howjoyful.com/?p=5617 I know we are all different but for me 32 was big enough, so I plan to take the real ones as soon as possible and not wait for the 36 week mark. So I would say take them! you might have a super cute and big bump by then =]

It's a trade off... as the bump gets bigger the swelling gets worse.
I never took any but my dad (an amateur photographer who usually takes AMAZING pictures of me) took only horrendous photos of me when I was huge. I just looked gross and felt gross so the smiles were fake (or absent).
30 weeks may not be too early at all.
