Mr. Hedgie and I are dealing with a pending MC but it got me thinking, how long should we wait before TTC again? I mean, we want children and TTC after an MC doesn't mean we weren't effected by the MC... I am just wondering what you guys think.

I'm really sorry for your loss. We waited one cycle after our early miscarriage (5 weeks) to TTC again. That was at the recommendation of my doctor. On an emotional level, it really just depends on when you feel like you're ready to try again. For us, we were ready to try immediately, but everyone is different.

My OB gave us the clear to start again at the first appointment after my D&C (which was about a month after the procedure, I think). When I asked her about the various wait times I had heard/read about, she said that if your body has recovered and you are ovulating and menstruating again, she doesn't see a reason why you need to wait. However, she said that many people advise waiting ~3 months mostly for emotional reasons.

I miscarried my baby back in May and haven't actively started TTC again yet. I think it doesn't help that almost every month since I miscarried, another family member or close friend has announced their pregnancy and forced me into the world of baby stuff before I was ready for it. My sister in law's baby shower is the same week as my original due date and I had to pass out on it. It's just too close and too painful. DH and I have discussed TTC again sometime this year but we are taking it very slow because we are both scared of possibly having another miscarriage.

We MC'd at 10 weeks, in August. Our perinatal doc told us to wait 2 full cycles, but I spoke with my regular Ob-Gyn and researched a lot, and the common opinion was that wait 1 full cycle. This helps you to see how your body is doing and, most importantly, gives you a good date to date your pregnancy if you get pregnant right away. It really helps to have the date of your last period when establishing a due date.

We were told to wait for one cycle and then it was safe to try again. We're still trying 10 months post miscarriage. Good luck and so sorry for your loss!

I am so sorry for your loss....My doc also recommended that we wait one cycle to start trying after our early miscarriage (5 weeks). It took me a while to get a period (almost 6 weeks) and then we started trying again. We got pregnant on cycle 3 trying again (but it was cycle 4 post miscarriage). We were both physically and mentally ready to start trying again. Hood luck and I wish you all the best.

sorry mrs. hedgie for your loss! i miscarried at 12 weeks in march and we started to try again in july. Our doctor recommended waiting 1-2 cycles but we waited about 4 because I wasn't emotionally ready. We got pregnant again but ended in a chemical pregnancy. That time around was not as traumatic but my views on pregnancy/childbirth have changed. Anyway, I hope that you are taking care of yourself. Good luck!

so sorry for your loss.
we waited 2 cycles, but if you are ready emotionally, i think it's fine (physically) to wait one cycle. i know that i wanted to get pregnant asap after my miscarriage. good luck!

So sorry for your loss. My doc said to wait 2 cycles. I'm still waiting for my first cycle post D & C. It just depends when you feel ready physically and emotionally. For me, I feel ready and I'm thinking I might just wait one cycle.
