2.5. I think we missed an earlier window, but when we finally did it she was more than ready.

@T-Mom: My oldest is a girl. We'll see how DS does this summer; we're going to start with him at 15/16 months with the goal of being completely done by the end of this year.

@Honeybee: Is there anything special you do? My DS is 16 months, but when I look at him I don't see how I could potty train him. But maybe I could and just don't know how? My mom is always pressuring me to train him since she claims my brother was trained by 1 yr.

@T-Mom: We start by just sitting them on the potty at the most likely times for them to go: before/after naps, meals, and bathtime. We try to keep the potty a really positive experience, so if they don't wan tto try or want to get off immediately we try to distract them with a song or book but don't force them to stay there. Every time they go we make a really big deal out of it: singing, clapping, dancing, etc... We didn't use any bribes with DD, just a lot of positive reinforcemement. She was pee trained and wearing training pants at 15 months: she usually signed potty to us when she had to go. At 18 months we made the final push to get her out of training pants and she was totally potty trained within 3 days.
Up until about 24 months, though, we had to help her use the potty and she didn't have a very long wait time, so those first few months were kinda labor intensive. Once her motor skills developped a little more, though, she was able to start taking herself to the potty and hold it for long periods of time.

@Honeybee: Wow very cool, thanks for sharing. Not sure it's in the cards for us but maybe I'll drag out the potty just to see what happens

Our daughter was around 18-21 months, but had a regression when sister came home. At age 2, she got it all together. She still sometimes requests a diaper for poop, but it's getting better at 2.5 yrs.

@Mrs. Jacks: it's about the cutest thing in the world to see our girls excited abojut using the potty at the same time, lol.

Not quite yet!
At 20 months she goes pee and poo on the potty and gets through the day dry almost always but she still nurses at night so usually wakes up in the morning with a pee in her diaper.
I also don't 100% trust her when we're out, sometimes she's fine with public restrooms and sometimes she isn't and though she can hold it for awhile she can forget if we're out and distracted. Luckily she's usually very adamant about pooping on a potty even if distracted.
