It is usually at 12 months at our daycare but it might be delayed until 14 months because the young toddler room is packed!

Our current center has the infant room split in half but it goes up to 14-16 months. So around 10 months when she was mobile she moved to the older half of the room. Now at 15 months she moved to the toddler room.

The criteria for our daycare is that they must feed themselves (by hand or with utensils), hold their own cup, and walk. My son actually got moved before he was walking because he needed the motivation of the other walkers since he was the oldest one left in the infant room and was content to crawl. He was 14 months when he was moved and he didn't walk until about 15.5 months.

@pelikila: It amazes me that they expect babies/toddlers as young as 12 months to be able to feed themselves. My daughter did a bit of BLW so she has great finger grasp but isn't so great with a spoon (unless you want her to make a big mess). She still eats lots of yogurt and applesauce that she needs help with!

When DD was in daycare the move was suppose to be at 18 months old, however there weren't enough kids so she stayed with the babies. I also didn't get the price decrease. I really didn't like our daycare and the more I think about it the more I get irritated.... even though she hasn't been there in ten months...

Our daycare moves them when they can walk well, so its less about their age and more about them showing the signs of being ready to move

There's the infant room, then the "mover" room which babies go to around 9 months and then the toddler room which is I think for babies 2 and up.

Our infant room is split, so she'll move up to the bigger infant room when she's mobile, and then move to the toddler room at around 16 months. Not sure what other criteria they have for the move to the toddler room.

Toddlers starts at 18 months for us, so we have a few more months. The criteria for that room is no bottle, only one nap, can step down from curb to go to the playground, stuff like
that.

@T-Mom: Ours goes to 1 nap when they get to the older infant room. It seems so early!

She's in an intermediate room right now, but she'll move up to the next room when she turns 1 in January.
Infant room: 6 weeks - 6 months
Crawlers: 6 months - 1 year
Walkers: 1 year - 18 months

@Thehistoryofus: For our daycare it isn't about age but abilities so it isn't necessarily a set timeframe that these skills should be present. My sister's son was great with utensils very early on and my son was a little slower to use them correctly.

@Thehistoryofus: that does sound early but you aren't the first person I have heard this from lately, so i guess it's just another school of thought? We started 1 nap at 15 months for DD.

@T-Mom: yes. I explained a bit more on the other "one nap" thread.
