When I was younger, we used to sleep in sleeping bags on the floor!
These days, all of our friends who "camp" take air mattresses!

When we take our LOs camping, we'll pitch tents and sleep in our sleeping bags on the lovely hard ground

We do. I'm ok without one, but hubby didn't camp before he met me.... and he's pretty wimpy about it. I had to buy him a big tent that you can stand up in and we have a nice air mattress too.

Haha - YUP! It fits perfectly inside of our tent, leaving us room on both sides for our clothing bags. We are such wusses. I never camped with one before I met my SO.

we're sleeping on the ground in sleeping bags! although my mom would bring lots of blankets and put them down first as cushion.

Heck yes! I don't go with out one! It's a.compromise bc I don't really like camping. Dh looooves camping and backpacking and I can't go more than 2 nights. Lol, I'm such a wimp. But Dh puts up with my prissy requests so I don't get cranky. I'm not fun when I'm cranky.

@chopsuey119: Wow, fancy!!
I'm proud that I grew up sleeping on the floor a lot and want our kids to keep it real, futon-style.

Most Definitely!! Nothing fun about waking up with a crampy sore muscles. My favorite way to "camp" is in a cabin on a bed, lol.

Absolutely! We camp up in the mountains so we definitely need something underneath us for some extra warmth. Plus one time there was some sort if animal crawling underneath the tent. Eeeek!

Hubs has never been real camping, but we've done the canvas cabin thing and will go again this summer. Those come with platform beds and a woodstove. I enjoy real camping, but I've got aches and pains now that I didn't have 10 years ago.

I am with Red. I don't camp because I just prefer to sleep in a bed. My old bones can't handle the ground, heck, they can't even handle an air mattress.

I dont think an air mattress counts as truly roughing it. Its got to be a sleeping bag to be authentic!

Pfft, we take a double high queen air mattress, sheets, blankets, pillows and make a proper bed! No sleeping bags on the floor for this diva! lol! Before DH I used to say less than 3 stars is camping, so it took some compromise for me to get on board with camping. We both really enjoy it, and it's nice to snuggle up in a cool tent under the covers with him

We rock the sleeping bags when we used to go camping. However, we do occasionally bring a pillow.

If we're car camping, yes. We have a double high full sized mattress. We also have a 6 person (might even be 8) tent, so it's quite roomy.

I'm not much of a camper, dislike it actually, but my entire family loves it and that's what they choose to do as a family vacation. We usually get a motorhome to sleep in, but the very least an air mattress.
