I'd like to get a queen sized mattress for my guest room, but we can't spend a lot. I haven't purchased a mattress in years and have no idea where to go.

We got a queen memory foam for our guest room from walmart.com for like 300 bucks. Its a little firm for me, but people who have used it have raved about it. There are a ton of cheap options on there if its just for a guest room

We just went to a local mattress store, but it was similar to a Sleepy's or something. I wanted to lay on it before buying.
People with cheaper memory foam mattresses, how long have you had them? DH had a tempurpedic knock off (like, totally sketchy, not a name brand that just wasn't tempurpedic) and it was SO comfortable for a few years, then pretty suddenly, it developed of a big dip in the middle that made it really hard to sleep in, especially with two people. Like, it was perfect for maybe 4 years and then BOOM, crater in the middle.

We got our king memory foam on overstock for about 450. There are queens for about 350 with great reviews also. We've only had it for about 2 years and have no complaints so far. For 450, I can't complain. This is the exactly one I got: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Comfort-Dreams-Select-A-Firmness-11-inch-King-size-Memory-Foam-Mattress/3158655/product.html?keywords=11281323&searchtype=Header

We got a queen sized mattress on sale from Sleepy's for like $200 or $250. I practically had to fistfight the salesman because he kept asking if we wanted the boxspring ("only $50 extra!") but our guest bed is one of those platform ones with the wooden slats, so no boxspring necessary.

I also second Big Lots. I haven't bought a mattress there, but the last time I was there I was surprised (pleasantly) by the variety & selection they had, and it seemed to be reasonably priced.
