I'm having the hardest time finding a dresser for the nursery. I don't want to spend a lot on it, and i'm not finding a color that matches our crib so I think I want to go white.
Our Craigslist blows.

Ours is my grandparents' bedroom set. We got it when my grandma passed away. It's beautiful, but we will paint it white. I hope that the dressers/nightstand are something that will stay with our LOs as they grow!

Target. The nursery sets are target aren't THAT bad but the kids furniture dressers are horrible. We got a cheap one with the plans to put it inside a walk-in-closet so who cares if it's cheap, right? DS left a baby wipe on top of it, the dresser bubbled and molded! So gross. Also, the alignment was off so none of the drawers ever shut nicely. Ugh. The downside of buying cheap furniture.
The dresser that we bought with the nursery set was a lot higher quality and it's lasted 4 years.

I scoured craigslist every day for months! Found ours from an antique dealer. I sanded and refinished and painted it myself. But all the sweat equity was worth it because I couldn't get a dresser like that brand-new full price for sure!

We bought ours as part of her crib set at a local boutique.

We bought ours at a large furniture chain. It's an adult dresser, but that is what we wanted. It will grow with her s she gets older.

We registered for one on Amazon and my mom bought it for us.

A local baby furniture store. We got the crib there too.

My son's dresser is actually part of my bedroom set as a child! It's held up that well.
Some ideas, if you can't find something right away, is to put one of those hanging shelf things in the closet, I had one in my son's room as a baby and it was great:

Ours will likely come from Ikea. I have a hack in mind that I want to do with it.

We got ours from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00242631/

Ikea Hemnes - huge drawers and sturdy. We've got similar ones in our master because we like the simplicity of the design and the size of the drawers so much!

@looch: same- we are using my dresser from growing up. There is a whole bedroom set we can take slowly as we have more room.
We were looking at PBK or ikea otherwise. I was fine with a kids one or adult as long as it was solid wood and would last.

@keiki_mama: Does it look little in the room? I love the white one in that style but i'm worried it will look dinky. I'm not home to measure the space, so I could be way off base.. do you have your changing pad on top & can you see LO using it when they're bigger? Sorry for a million questions.

white ikea malm on sale (99$, tall 6 dresser drawer)! not the most beautiful or unique, but it blends in with the room well, is unobtrusive, and slides nicely :). our previous nursery dresser looked nice enough, but was a hand me down and the drawers were soooo sticky frustrated me to no end! i also gotta love the skubb drawer dividers that fit perfectly inside.

Another Ikea vote We got the black brown Hemnes 3-Drawer chest for $150 because we also chose some other Ikea furniture in black brown (bookcase, rocking chair, etc).

@MrsTiz: This was more or less or setup for the first few months. Our cooshee changing pad fit perfectly and it's not dinky whatsoever in the room.

@MrsTiz: I have the exact same ikea hemnes in gray-brown. The changing pad fits perfect on top with extra space for a small lamp and some toys he can grab while i'm changing him.
If you end up getting that, definitely get these for the top two drawers: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00192631/
The dividers are great because it keeps all the tiny clothes organized. The top drawer I have wipes, a stack of diapers, burp cloths and bibs, socks, and basic onesies. The second drawer I have sleep and plays, tops, bottoms, and outfits.
The bottom drawer is a lot bigger, I have his towels, swaddlers, crib sheets and pack and pack sheets and things.

@keiki_mama: I have the same setup! Our cooshee is onyx. lol. We have a lamp instead the wooden thing.

@MrsTiz: for what it's worth, here's a size comparison picture. LO recently moved to a convertible carseat and his bucket is in our room for the time being. It's not the biggest dresser but it holds his clothes comfortably. We box up the things he grows out if regularly.

@keiki_mama: @bamblm: Looks just like what we did, except we have the Soft Gear mat and we have an Ikea lamp on the dresser.

Another vote for Ikea! I am firmly in the camp of not spending a lot on kids' furniture. We've been completely happy with both dressers we got there -- a Trondheim (doubles as a changing table) and a taller Malm.

@bamblm: @keiki_mama: Thank you! I think i'm going to show it to DH when I get home. I still think it might be too small, but i'm not sure. I don't have an Ikea to go check it out IRL. I'm not so much concerned with drawer space because we have a well laid out closet, but I don't want it to feel too small for the wall.

I'll post mine when I get home for another size reference, it's next to our armchair.

@MrsTiz: here's mine. I think the size is substantial. When I sit in the chair, I have to reach up to get my drink or phone if I set it there. Hope that helps.

West Elm's Niche is nice. 51" long perfect for a changing pad and additional storage on top.

@hergreenapples: love your nursery!
I went with white furniture so it would be easier to match random pieces.
Mine dresser came from Craigslist - solid wood for $60!

I think we are going to get this one from Ikea and paint it navy blue to match our theme. I believe it's the same one Mrs. Blue got. We're driving 3.5 hours to go to Ikea and then going to visit friends for the night so we aren't driving back and forth. I figure one way or another, I will find a dresser there I want.

We refinished my husbands furniture from when he was a kid. It had been in his fam now for about 50 years.
