We've always only had a small tabletop "Charlie brown" tree that belonged to my husband's maternal grandmother. I wanted to wait till our baby's 1st Christmas before buying our first tree.
Anyway where did you buy your artificial (my husband is really allergic to pine) tree. What kind (species) do you have? How tall? How much did you pay?

We got ours at Sam's Club. It's 6.5 ft slim tree, pre-lit. It has a TON of lights on it. It was about $140. It also turns. : )

We have a lame cheap one from wal-mart. We got it years ago so I am nor sure what species or how big it is. My DH is also allergic to pine, but is willing to get a real tree this year for her first christmas. I would rather get a new fake one, pre-lit would be awesome! I could always add more lights if I wanted!

We have a fake tree from home depot. It's 8' I believe. I like that it has the lights already on it (white lights). My mom bought it for me when I was single & living alone. I refused to put up a tree & that upset her, so she bought me a fake one so I'd never have an excuse not to have one. It was a couple hundred, but you can get them for less.

We got our a 7.5ft Norwich Pine prelit with 600 clear lights from Sears at the end of last season for 90% off - so only $26. The last tree we got was really skinny, so I wanted on with a wide base and this one has a 55" base.

@bpcmarj: my husband would too if I really wanted to but he is super allergic. Breaks out in hives/itchy if even in same room allergic.
@PurplePumps: I totally planned on doing that! But I couldn't find one I liked. And with online ones I saw I just wasn't sure if I would like it IRL.
Although I do love the look of prelits there is something about the family getting together stringing the lights and hanging ornaments that we love. Which makes it even harder because 90% of the trees sold are prelit!

@regberadaisy: I was a little worried too since I would be be pretty picky if I saw them in the store. But at that price, it was worth the chance since all the specs sounded good.

Our fake tree was a Target Black Friday deal. It's 6 feet tall and cost $70. Keep your eyes out; there are always good deals on trees on Black Friday!

@regberadaisy: I always knew I was allergic but didn't know how bad until last year, when I went all out and got a fresh cut tree and garland to cover the mantel and entire bannister. At first I thought I might be sick, but it turned out to be the greenery! Supposedly there's mold spores on it and they can put a fresh cut tree on a machine to shake it out. As for me, definitely going to get a good fake tree from now on!

We bought a prelit 9' tree from Lowes. It was $200 or $300. I can't remember. I love it! I'm not sure what type of tree it is though.

@spaniellove: oh no! That's how they found out too with my husband! It severely aggravated his asthma along with breaking out in hives. I would LOVE a fresh cut tree but not at the expense of my husband! I'll just light some pine scented candles! Haha

Weekend after Christmas sale at an outdoor garden store. Maybe $200? It's tall, pre-lit, very full. We have a fake tree because I have horrendous allergies and pine needles are a) messy and b) dangerous for pets

@regberadaisy: Supposedly there are these things called scentsicles that you can put in a fake tree? I'm really particular about scented candles and love my Nest Holiday candles - they don't even have to be burning!

We have 6' pre-lit tree from Wal-Mart. We bought it 6 years ago so I don't recall the cost, but it was less than $60 I'm sure. It's not as full nor as tall as I'd like it, but for our current space available, it fits nicely. I can't wait to upgrade our tree in the future!
