A lot of stuff that we bought for our new home (especially LO's room) is from different antique stores where they refurbish furniture. I was just there today and they have a very cute old fashioned desk with flowers painted on it. I'm still trying to figure out where I can put it because I'm in love with that desk! Their prices are very low and the stuff is unique and adorable.

We got some from Ashley furniture.... Never again. Very cheap. I wish I liked antique... But most look too old for me. I like more of a modern look...

Most of the furniture in our apartment is from Crate & Barrel, with a couple of pieces from Ethan Allen and Bo Concept mixed in. I like Room & Board too, but we don't have a store here in Boston and I don't feel comfortable ordering furniture without seeing it in person.

Holy cow, now that I think about it, I've never bought furniture. All our current belongings were the hubby's and I inherited them when we moved in together. We haven't bought anything since then!

I like a good mix. We have some "temporary pieces" that we bought just for our current apartment from Ikea and we invested a little more money into "permanent pieces" like our couch from Crate & Barrel and our vintage dining room chairs.
My favorite places to windowshop for future furniture purchases are West Elm, Crate & Barrel, and some funky local places.

When we first got married we had nothing, so we furnished our entire place with Ikea and hand-me-down furniture. All the Ikea stuff is still in great shape, but we've been replacing the hand-me downs from a variety of sources--Macy's, Crate and Barrel, antiques shows, and custom builders.

My favorite pieces were made by my FIL. He's a woodworker in his spare time, and his stuff is beautiful. The rest of our furniture is from a funky local shop, pottery barn, crate and barrel, and ethan allen.
@betsyboop: I feel the same way about room & board - love their stuff in pictures, but can't bring myself to buy it without seeing it in person. -
@regberadaisy: yeah, i'd stay away from ashley furniture. the sofa and loveseat is horrible - let's just say we're using a wooden plank sorta thing under the seats so it doesn't keep sinking in) and the only reason our dining table and chairs are doing so well after 6 years is cuz we literally never use it! but we've been using it more now and we can tell how cheap it is.

Right now we have a whole lot of Ikea, some hand-me-downs from my parents, and some craigslist. Our style is fairly modern, so we like CB2, West Elm, and Room & Board. We're finally reaching that point in life where we're starting to buy some higher quality pieces rather than always going the Ikea route.

A lot has come from flea markets and garage sales. Then I've fixed them up. I also had many cheap pieces from IKEA back in the day.

Since we had to buy furniture when we moved to the UK and we'll have to move it back in 2 years, we just bought most of ours from IKEA. That way we won't be heartbroken if it gets damaged on it's way back to the states.

We got quite a few from Crate and Barrel and a regional furniture store called Arhaus. I also like Room and Board but the closest store is still about 30-40 minutes away; but I can probably find similar pieces at Crate and Barrel so I'm not too sad that R&B is further.

For Mavrick we bought a 3 piece crib set. Nothing fancy. But for baby girl we purchased old furniture (70s - not sure that's considered antique) and refurbished it.
I love having unmatchy furniture! Can't wait to finish (or should I say start) the nursery

I bought my furnitue from costco, our couch is 7 years old and should be replaced soon. I love our world market dining room and coffee table. I also got an amazing entertainment center at costco, no particle board 100% wood, it weighs about 350lbs!

One of the surprising things about living in Sweden is the limited variety of goods available! I figured that because it's part of the EU, we'd have much more access to things w/o the high import costs. How wrong I was!
Back home, I can easily buy furniture from literally anywhere, even buy them custom-made and not have to go to a fancy store to get it. That's not possible here! I've been to different furniture stores and they literally sell the same thing - just at different prices. I have been waiting for the 3 largest furniture stores to get new leather couches for 2 years now -- and still nothing
Sure Sweden is known for their furniture design, but it's very modern simplistic, which isn't my style. Plus places like BoConcept are a little too pricey for me anyway.
Because of this, I love going to antique stores! That's where I get antique chairs and corner tables - basically anything with real, nice wood. For our everyday furniture, we buy from Ikea, EM.com and a local store called Ulfasa.se.
