I buy both new and used. I buy them for $1 at the bookstore in my local library. I also go to Half Priced Books, Goodwill, and Wal-Mart for discounted books. When I'm buying new I go to Barnes and Noble.

I have a Nook so I buy a lot of them as ebooks from B&N. I buy hard copies from B&N, Target, and Walmart. I use the library too but it doesn't have the best selection so I don't go very often. I don't have a preference between new and used.

My library has ebook so when the lending period is over you just don't have access anymore!

I usually get books from the library unless it's a book I know I'll want to own. Then I'll either order on Amazon or pick some up at library book sales. My library even has a store where every book is $1 so I've gotten some great finds for Lady M there.

Thrift stores in my area have great used book selections, so pick up a ton of books there. I also use the library a lot, including library ebooks.

There's an e-library function that my library uses. That's where I usually get most of my books, or the traditional library. Sometimes, rarely, I'll order books off of Amazon.

Amazon and Better World Books for online shopping. DH and I love used bookstores. There's a thrift store a block away with a decent book selection, and we have other favorites in the city.

@apis We love the Strand! We live in Chicago now but used to live in New York and that was one of our favorites, along with the Housing Works Bookstore.

I like browsing thrift stores and used book stores. I also borrow a lot from the library. Our library sends you an e-mail reminder when your book is due and lets you renew easily online. Since they've implemented that I haven't had a single overdue book!
