We have a small emergency fund in our savings account at the bank where we have our checking account. We have a larger fund (eventually to be used for down payment) in a separate account with better rates!

We have about $8,000 easily accessible in a savings account - the rest is in a Vanguard account (it can be transferred into our checking account within 2 days or so.) I can't really think of an emergency situation where I'd need it faster than that!

We have our emergency fund at a credit union that is not our normal bank.

We have multiple savings accounts too. We have a $5k credit card that we don't touch for immediate things, and then we have about $8k in an INGDirect account. It takes about 3 days to transfer out though, hence the credit card.

Ours is in a high interest savings account. 1.2% interest which isn't amazing, but decent for accessible money.
