You have frequent flyer miles that about to expire. The current promotion includes Scotland, Germany, Spain, Norway, and Switzerland.
It'll be a short extended weekend vacation with a 2 yr old. Where would you go?
Eta: They're all between 4 - 6.5 hours away, including 1 stop-over. Germany's the closest, Madrid and Scotland are the furthest, but not by much.

I would go to Norway because we have friends who live there that I would love to visit. But it's *so* expensive as a place to just go.
I would say Spain because I've never been, or Switzerland because it's one of my favorite places on earth.

I'd say Norway at this time of year. Midsommer looooong, looooong days and mild temperatures. I did Madrid in the summer and it was just so hot and the air was awful.

@Pumuckl: Good to know about Madrid! @septca: Trondheim's one of the places we've been wanting to go to, but accommodations will be the most expensive for sure!

I've been to all of the countries you listed, but unfortunately, not many of the specific cities. Norway is one of my favourite countries but I haven't been to Trondheim specifically. Bergen and the fjords are beautiful if you can get there.
Geneva is lovely but probably not overly exciting for a toddler. I found visiting UN HQ super fascinating, but I'm sure your two year old won't!
Of the other places you listed, I'd go with Cologne - they are supposed to have some of the best Christmas markets, and whilst it's obviously not that time of year, the gorgeous back drop and beautiful buildings should still be good!

@SugarplumsMom: I can tell you a lot about Cologne (or really all the German cities - I live there) if you have specific questions. What I love about Cologne is that it has a chocolate museum which would be an awesome activity with a 2 yr. old. (you get to try chocolate from a chocolate fountain). Also Düsseldorf and Bonn are only a 30min train ride away so that makes it possible to actually visit 3 cities.

@Pumuckl: Did you say chocolate?! Omg. You've won me over. That'll be my suggestion to DH. I also looked up weather in Madrid and it's a little to balmy for us. Thanks for the tip!
I'll have to wait until DH gets home before we can see if the available dates work for us. But I'm also guessing he'll want to go Scotland.

@Pumuckl: I found good deals in Cologne. These 2 in particular had the best prices. Would staying at City Center be worth not having free breakfast -or- would Muelheim be good enough (with free breakfast).

I've been to all the places listed except Norway and Spain, so I'd pick one of those. Buy my husby would pick Switzerland again because his best friend from growing up lives there now.
Can you compare hotels and then go with the one where you get the best overall deal?

I would go somewhere I haven't been before so my picks would be to go to Germany (both Hanover and Cologne since they don't seem that far from one another) and Norway. I've never been to Scandinavia, and Norway seems cool. I've heard good things.

@SugarplumsMom: I'd stay on the side of the Rhein that city center is at because you otherwise have the hassle of having to crossing it. Also there seems to be no public transport really near that location and you'd spend a good hour a day just commuting from your hotel to down-town. There's lots of cafés and restaurants in the city where you can have breakfast:

Spain for the culture and tapas and sun.... And siestas 
But Norway is so, so, sooooo beautiful. Switzerland didn't wow me as I expected it to, nor did Germany.
