I was leaning towards Neutrogena Baby Free & Clear but their ratings on EWG aren't that great. California Baby only goes up to SPF 30, I want SPF 50 at least.
Which brand do you use?

Burn Out! Great rating on skin deep, goes on like a dream... we love it. I find the California Baby and many other physical blocks to be too thick to apply easily

I just look for anything with the minerals (zinc, etc). Johnson and Johnson had some that was on clearance last summer but I have also used neutragena.

@Looch-- looks like they changed the rating? I'll have to do some checking myself now! Maybe they re-formulated...

@Mrs. Twine: oh no! figures!
Another brand that was decently rated was Coola.

@pelikila: Where do you buy your Loving Naturals? Thus far it has the best rating on EWG but holy, $21.99 for 4oz on Amazon!

We used Badger Balm last season because of the ingredients working best with DS's restrictions and it had a really good rating, but the stuff is super super thick!

@regberadaisy: It is expensive but worth it. I buy on Amazon or at a local retailer that I asked to carry it.

@looch-- okay, I mis-looked. It's BurnOut Kids. It is still well rated on skin deep. We love it and will continue to use it. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for this, I was just thinking about what stuff to get. Our doctor told us to not get over SPF 50 because it is too harsh on baby skin but that was the only restrictions.

Any Canadian recommendations? A lot of the ones mentioned here I'd have to order from the states...

What's EWG? I bought Coppertone water babies and it went on smooth and protected her face this weekend.

@tinyperson: I just purchased this:

Which is a Canada brand. I have not tried it yet but have found some good reviews.

I just posted these in my blog with the ingredients list if you want to see them.

I like California baby because he's not allergic to it! I used badger on my nanny kids and want to try that one on him as well.

We have some Banana Boat Baby that is SPF 100 and then we have another SPF 100 in a spray can.

I just bought a tube of Alba Botanicals Kids, spf 30. It goes on very easily, which is important to me. I'd rather the sunscreen be a little less "safe" on the ratings to have some spreadability, because if you can't spread it on and get it off easily it doesn't get used.

@looch: I love the Alba! I had such a hard time applying the Episencial sunscreen on my LO!

@LuLu Mom: thanks for the tip!!
@looch: good to know, thanks!
It doesn't look like they have a line geared for babies? Oops, never mind, found a kids line.
@littlebittyhouse: how does it go on?
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@hilsy85: I haven't used it on her yet, but I just put some on my arm and it wasn't like say - cetaphil - but wasn't as hard as most sunscreens i've used in the past. this sounds terrible..but there isn't anything sealing it, so you could get away with trying a teeny bit in the store..lol!

@Mrs. Twine: Thanks for the rec! Just ordered some!

@Chopsuey119; I hope you love it as much as we do! I need to get some more... the one in our diaper bag is almost empty.
