I struggled a lot with math, and I didn't have a good math teacher until I was a senior in high school. I did okay with Geometry and Trig, and then Pre-Calc senior year (my school called it "Advanced Mathematics". I almost failed Algebra/2.

Geometry and calculus were hard for me.

I was never as good at math as other subjects. I'd always miss little details even when I knew the "concept" behind it. But when I took Calculus, I hit a brick wall. I felt completely lost. I'd never experienced that before. I'm an English teacher, so I joke about my slow math skills all the time.

@mrbee: LOL! Nope. I don't even think I can remember how to do an integral on the top of my head. But I'm sure just a refresher and it will all come back. I'm civil engineering which I draw up plans in AutoCAD sometimes, so that's where my lack of geometry skills doesn't help me. I can do it, I think it just takes me longer than normal to think it through. I will probably need to relearn it for my professional engineering exam.

It's not my strongest subject. I got C's in Calc 1 and Calc 2, but a B in Calc 3. I struggled in Thermodynamics real bad because of the math, too. Grumble. Thank goodness I NEVER use math at work! I don't mind it in a problem...physics, for example. But i hate 'just' math problems.

@blackbird: Same here! I didn't go nearly as high up but the same semester I was drowning in trig I was doing great in physics! Totally bizarre to me!

All of them! I am terrible at math.

I really hit a wall with Algebra and thought I was terrible at math. I think it was just needing a good teacher though--junior and senior years of high school I took trig and calculous with an amazing teacher and felt like I was finally getting it!

for the GREs though, I had to relearn basic math without using a calculator, and relearning how to do fractions just about KILLED me.

I flourished in geometry and in linear algebra. I remember being amazed by how cool trig was, but it didn't come easy. Calculus was tough, but once we got to series and linear algebra, suddenly it ALL made sense!

Algebra was difficult but I excelled in geometry and trig. I also did really well in statistics.

Trig and stats I had trouble focusing in because they bored me to tears but I did fine in them. I really like math so the all the other subjects I was very interested in and did well. I was glad when I learned about geometric proofs. I never had been great at showing my work because math seemed very intuitive, and learning how to do proofs really made light bulbs go off in my brain of the step by step processes.

Same!! I always did really well in math and went into honors Geometry and got my first ever C. I was so sad.

I always did really well in math, but did have a harder time at first with geometry than other areas--I understood all the formulas but I'm not really a visual learner so I sometimes had difficulty "seeing" things.
