We're going to be traveling soon and I usually bring our Marpac white noise machine, but I'm thinking of leaving it at home this time. I do love the actual noise it generates, though (for us and our LO- we have 2!)
My problem with the free app that I have (think it's Called white noise ambience) is that I haven't been able to find a similar sound.
What app do you have, and what is the specific noise that you use?

We use Relax Melodies in DD1's room on an iPod. We use the Marpac in our room for DD2 and I much prefer that, but we have that app on our phones for travel (even in the car when baby is fussy).

I like the plain white noise app (the pink icon I think). I eventually paid for it b/c the free version you can't exit the app and still have it run in the background.

We use "Sleep Pillow Sounds"... there's multiple sound options... we use the rain/waterfall one!

We use "White Noise" on the 'Extreme rainfall' sound.

I love my "Rain" app (its under "rain, rain sleep sounds" with a blue rain drop icon)
There is variety of white-noise like sounds, its free, you can exit out of the app and the sounds still plays. we use it all the time for LO and he loves it!

We also have the Marpac and love the noise. We went away recently and I downloaded "Bed Time Fan" - its free, and the sound is close enough to Marpac (a little more "rough" sounding) to work in a pinch.

I have the White Noise Ambience app and I prefer the box fan sound- it's the closest to the marpac. I actually thought the marpac was a silly extravagance since the homedics one is a third of the price a fine... Then we had s gift card and needed one for our room for the baby and it is way better. But the box fan sound isn't too bad.

I don't have an app, I downloaded an album on iTunes called "Baby Lullabies" and there's a track called "Ocean relaxing sleep sounds". His homedics sound machine at home also plays the ocean so that's his jam.
The bonus of being in iTunes/music is that I can play it through my car speakers as well and that's how he naps in the car.
The album is all instrumental lullabies and kids songs (soft music) and has maybe 5-10 ambiance/sounds. I like it. Then I just choose one track and play it on repeat on my phone or iPad. -
Noise box. I use the red one and it runs in the background of anything!
