Total brag thread... who all sewed their LO's Halloween costume?
W is being a dragon. He is so distracted by the tail I decided to embroider the wings instead of make 3D ones. All that's left is to make eyes!

I'm so impressed! I really love the embroidered wings, too. So creative!
aaaaand I bought M's costume on craigslist

@MrsF: thanks! DH is upset it doesn't have real wings. I told him if it bothers him that much he can make them and I'll put snaps on them so they're removable. Lol.

You sewed that?!?! That is amazing! I can't sew at all. If a button falls off of a shirt I own, I just stop wearing it, I'm that incompetent.

That is amazing. My kid doesn't have a costume. I think we are going to dress her like a hippy and give her a cardboard sign like she's hitch hiking to Woodstock....
Tip do buy stuff to make her a super hero but don't know if I will get to it.
She's only 6 months old...but we will probably be going to a hospital party, so she actually does need a costume. Mom fail.

@Navy_Mommy: I can't even sew a button back onto a shirt how did you learn to sew?

That's awesome! I so don't have the patience to sew anything not super easy like pillows, lol.
I bought E two costumes, but both were at consignment shops and I spent $10 on both, so I don't feel bad at all for buying, lol. Maybe next year I'll be ambitious enough to sew one!

Aww, that's amazing! I haven't been at my machine much since DS was born, but I plan on sewing his costume next year.

I sewed DD's costume this year for the first time, it was ROUGH! I don't know if I will be making a costume again It will do for the dark while trick-or-treating, but not for posting on hellobee hahahaha

Wonderful job! DH is like you, and is incredibly talented with a sewing machine. He makes our costumes every year - I plan and shop for fabric, and he goes to town. We're in the process of putting together our family costumes now - so far, so good!

That's so awesome! That costume looks so comfortable too! I've made my son's costumes for 2 halloweens and reused one of them for my daughter. I haven't started on their costumes this year yet. I am totally procrastinating

@deerylou: That's so cool! Hope you can share with us the final reveal of your handmade costumes. I've seen some amazing ones on the blogosphere but I am not that good with a sewing machine. Pillows are the most I can put together for now.

Pretty impressive! I made my daughter's costume. It's waaaay too big so I guess she'll be little red riding hood for the rest of her life.

Wow - that is amazing! Last year my son wanted to be a stop sign so I bought some felt and cut it out - soooo easy!
This year he tell me he wants to be Iron Man.
5 yr old: Mommy you can make it again just get red and gold fabric and sew it up
Wish it was that easy - I bought his costume

That looks so awesome! This shouldn't count compared to that but last year I made DS a loincloth so he could be Tarzan

@swedishfish: I grew up with my Mom sewing and I had alittle kid machine. Then I didn't really start until 2 years ago, but I think watching my mom sew and use patterns helped me learn. I took a basic class at Jo-Ann Fabrics then just started diving into projects!

@grizz: my Mom basically did W's last year oritwould have been store bought (he was 6 months old and DH was deployed).
