We're still TTC #2, but we know financially we have to be done with babies when we have this one. So we're going to take preventative measures.
In our case we've already decided it's him who will get "fixed" since it's an out patient procedure with little recovery, compared to a tubal ligation.
But I'm curious, what did you choose?

We aren't sure if we are done yet, but when we know for sure we are our plan is that DH will get the snip. He's more than happy to do it. The only exception would be if we decide to have another kid and I have a scheduled c-section for some reason-- then we may consider the idea of my getting a tubal ligation at the same time. But I plan to try for a vbac if we do have another and I doubt they would do a tubal ligation in the event of an unplanned c-section so that seems unlikely unless I had a breech LO or something.

We don't know if we're done yet. I find it interesting so many have already made a decision on this even before they're done?! We have not talked about this yet so I'm not sure!

We're in the process of setting him up for a vasectomy, and I'm getting an IUD in a week or two. I was given the option for a tubal during my c-section, but I opted against it.

I don't like the idea of permanent measures, but my husband wants a vasectomy. It's his body, so I won't stop him.

I considered it but my dr/insurance made it so hard. I had to take a class and have forms signed a few weeks before delivery and LO 3 was born early at 36 weeks.
DH wants to get snipped this year or next year.

We aren't sure if we're done having kids yet but my husband is definitely getting snipped when we are! He's not too keen on the idea but considering what pregnancy/birth is like, he can deal with a little snip!

I'm intending to have a repeat c section with this pregnancy and I'll likely get my tubes tied at the same time.

LOL! Birth control, condoms, abstinence, God's hands...all of the above! And yes, we are sure we are done! This is my Forever Family!

99.9% sure that we will stop at two kids but I don't think we will consider permanent measures. Our current method of BC has been effective when used correctly so I think we are fine with continuing that.

You should've seen DH's face when I asked him, over breakfast, if he will be having a vasectomy after #2 is born!! He suggested that I take permanent measures instead, to which I replied that his would be a simple procedure yadda yadda.. He went pale and said Id sprung it on him! The conversation kind of ended there....! I don't mind because he's two-and-through and I'm open to the possibility of a third.

We've already decided on DH getting a vasectomy when we're done because it's a more simple procedure, plus my aunt conceived her third child at 41 even though her tubes were tied. Talk about a surprise!!

He got snipped. He did it because he said I already went through so much with having the kids that it was his turn.

We are done, but no permanent measures for either of us.

I don't think we'll do anything permanent but I've thought about a uterine ablation if my endo stays bad. Mirena is pretty awesome, so I may just stay with this! Since I need to be on birth control, it seems sorta pointless for DH to do anything

We haven't talked about it in detail, but I don't think he wants a vasectomy. I suspect we'll just keep on charting. Plus, we're pretty open-ended about how many we want, so it will be a while before either of us would consider doing anything.

@Cherrybee: Ha! That's pretty much exactly how our initial conversation went, although I don't think my DH verbalized his feelings quite as well as yours did

@blackbird: I spoke to my doctor about uterine ablation last year, it came up when we were discussing heavy periods. He basically said it's not approved as a birth control method, but given what the procedure is, he would be very surprised if anything could live in a uterus that is basically all scar tissue.
I am on the fence about it, it's supposedly covered by insurance, maybe when we meet our deductible.

DH got a vasectomy when LO2 was about 9 months old.

Before we ever started having kids, we agreed that DH would get a vasectomy when we were done.

Hmm, we will stop at three kids, but I doubt either of us will take permanent measures to prevent additional pregnancies. Knowing what I know now in terms of when to get pregnant I can use that to prevent pregnancy. Plus we can always go back to condoms- less mess!

@HabesBabe: @travellingbee: It happened 6 months after his surgery! And after further testing they determined it was successful and he just took extra long to clean out. I'm 17 weeks pregnant now and the shock has finally worn off.
