I don't mind doing it but he totally takes responsibility for this one. He also does a much better job.

Other? Our complex manager is supposed to do it but my next door neighbor did our walkway this morning. When we've lived in other places D has insisted on doing it (And mowing the lawn. He enjoys it. I've never mowed the lawn.)

It hasn't snowed here since 1998! So needless to say, it's not really a problem here
nectarine / 2163 posts
no snow here! it snowed once in 2009, and was all over the news as the first time snow was ever recorded in the city. it was more like sleet and slush, and the entire city shut down for a couple days. so, definitely not an issue here!

DH does but we bought a snow blower a few years ago so it's not bad.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
DH does it on mornings I have to work and I help the rest of the time. Heck, he gets called in to work extra when it snows so I do it by myself those times. Blizzard with two feet of snow in February? Me.

Our building gets rid of most of it, but there isn't always enough space for SO's car, so sometimes he has to park on the street. Then he shovels his car out. He usually helps with it no matter where he parks though. If it's AWFUL, I help, but I don't last long & he would rather do it himself. Yesterday, he shoveled the street in front of two other houses, just 'cause. Haha.

DH does all shoveling this year because I'm regnant and that motion really bothers my round ligament. Usually we share the job with him doing a bigger share of it.

Usually both of us, with me doing slightly more because I get up earlier in the morning and will get out there and do it. But this year I am pregnant, so he's doing it all, and it has already been our snowiest winter since we got married
watermelon / 14206 posts
It snows maybe once a year here, and it melts in a day, so no one shovels.

We used to share the duties, but now with Xander (or at least with this last snow storm...), Hubs did it all because we figured someone needed to stay inside with the baby (he was napping at the time) and I would need to nurse him if he woke up. Hopefully this is what happens every storm!

My husband does it mostly. We get sort of a lot of snow here though so occasionally if I have time and he's at work I'll do it for him, maybe 2-3 times/year.

Wow. You ladies are making me feel bad! - I have never done it. In all fairness, I think DH would take it as an insult if I did it. He really enjoys doing the "around the house" stuff
pomegranate / 3729 posts
DH does most of it, but our complex plows and shovels the walkways. The only thing we have to do is play tetris with the cars so that our spot gets plowed. But, we only get a couple of good snows a year, really.

DH usually does (we have a snow blower he uses if there is a lot). I would shovel sometimes, but now that I'm pregnant he will NOT let me. He's so afraid I'm going to slip!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
We used to do it together....then I didn't touch it while pregnant and I haven't since having the baby since someone has to watch her. I think he considers it his exercise lol!
nectarine / 2771 posts
DH does, and on rare occasions, I'll help. I don't mind, but he insists on shoveling and well, I let him
pomegranate / 3398 posts
I've never done it lol I also have only mowed the grass once in my 31yrs lol
I guess I'm spoiled
eggplant / 11408 posts
We both do it, usually, or whoever gets home first in time to deal with it. Since I've been pregnant, though, DH has insisted that he do it. He's a keeper

We have a snow-blower which takes care of most of the snow. We both use it; although I like to do it because 1) I feel like it’s a good workout and makes me feel all “rawr, girl power, I did it!” and 2) I’m anal about clearing our driveway and my husband is….not.
We both shovel/sweep the snow from the front porch; I don’t mind doing that either because we get a lot of packages delivered and again, I’m anal about clearing enough space and clearly really well for the delivery man while my husband is not (we’ve gotten nasty-grams from the USPS about clearing our porch when only my husband does it! Lol)

We don't get snow here, but when we lived in Colorado, it all depended who was working and when. Whoever worked first would clear just enough to get their car out and warn the other about shoveling. Then the person who works later finished the job. If we were both off, we both shoveled together.

My husband shovels snow for a living lol. So he does it most of the time, but I will do it if he's super busy.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
It used to just totally depend on when it started snowing, who was home from work first, etc. Now that we have LO and I'm a SAHM I usually end up doing it because I feel guilty if DH comes home from a 10 hour shift at his always on his feet physical job and then has to shovel snow.
coconut / 8279 posts
I usually do the stairs and DH does digs out the cars and shovels out our spots.
We live in a rental and they take care of it, but usually we need to leave the house before they get to us.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
DH runs the snow blower and plows usually.
I have done it in the past on my wfh days and such, just with a shovel-- it's my cardio
coconut / 8854 posts
We both do it. If he's home we will normally both go out and shovel to get it done faster! If I'm gone, he'll take care of it and same if hes working and I'm home, I will just do it!
It's a REALLY good workout! I'm still sore from Saturday actually!

Neither of us have to! If it did snow here it would probably be DH since he does all the other outdoor chores.
clementine / 901 posts
Usually DH will do it but I will help out occasionally if there is a lot of snow.
pomegranate / 3383 posts
I voted DH, but I shovel our back deck and walkway from the garage often since that's how we get into our house and I'm usually home first. My husband does everything else (front of the house, driveway, etc.).
@Crisark: I've NEVER mowed the lawn...ever!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Crisark: I had never mowed the lawn until this past summer! I was so anxious to have some alone time after being alone with baby for 11 hours a day that when DH came home from work and wanted to go right back out to mow the lawn, I would volunteer to do it instead! Haha.
pear / 1812 posts
@Crisark: I have also never mowed the lawn. Wouldn't even know where to start!
In previous years my DH has done the vast majority of the shovelling, but since I'm at home with our LO this year, I've been doing 90% of it. It's silly, but it makes me proud to see a nice clean sidewalk amidst two feet of snow.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
It used to be both of us, but now with LO he does it all while we watch from the window and LO knocks on it to say hi
pear / 1955 posts
Holy cow, am I the only one who does it all the time?! I LOVE snow shoveling - it's such a great work out. Then again, I insist on mowing the lawn with our push mower too - any kind of workout that doesn't involve the monotony of gym equipment is fine by me!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@raspberries: That was another reason I started taking over the lawn mowing this summer...figured it was a convenient way to work off some baby weight while getting something done!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
We get plenty of snow but we don't have to shovel! We have a gravel driveway, so we would probably just shovel the whole driveway away. It's not hard to drive over if we need to get out.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Crisark: My dad taught me how to use a riding mower once when I was about 10. But I have NEVER mowed the lawn! DH always does it. Muahaha!
