Until I started babysitting at age 12, my sisters and I were watched by our "Nana" (no relation) who lived a few apartments down from us. She had a daughter 5 or 6 years older than me who was 'cooler than sliced bread' to my little pre-teen self. I found out a couple of years ago that she died in childbirth from complications from Crohn's. Devastating. :'(

My mom, until she went back to work part-time (we were in middle school by then). After that, it was just my older brother and I alone at the house . . . we were both good kids, and even though he wasn't quite 2 years older, my brother took really good care of me.

my parents or my grandmother.

My mom was always home. Even when we were older, she worked at a high school so she kept similar hours. She was one of those, "heaven forbid anybody else watch my child" kind of people. We never really had babysitters, either.

When we were really young my dad, he worked nights and stayed with us during the day. Once we got a little older and he switched to days we went to daycare while they worked.

My mom stayed home until I went to kindergarten. Then, I went to a sitters house until she was finished with work.

My mom was/is a SAHM, but we spent a lot of time with my grandma too.

My stepmom. She is a SAHM.

my mom stayed home until i was in grade one and then she went back to work part time and my gran watched us. when my mom went back to work full time, my gran came every day and sent us to school, made us lunches, etc. Staying home sick was the best because we sat with my gran and watched all her trashy shows with her! She came every monday-friday until I was about 13.

My father. He was on dialysis and too sick to work when I was young, so he took care of me.

My Mom. She stayed home with us until I went to pre-school, worked part time at the school so she could be there when we got home and then went full time when we were both in school so she could still be home when we got home. She is awesome.

My mom did for half time for my first 2-3 years (she still substitute taught a couple days a week, and on the days she worked, I would stay at a neighbor lady's house.)

When I turned 3, my parents started a large daycare (around 50 kids, double that number in summer) so then I was at the day care with my mom, but in my age class.

My mom went back to teaching full-time (they still owned the daycare, but hired a new director) when I was in elementary, so then I just went to her classroom every day after school to do my homework, and that last until I was in HS and my brother could drive us home. I cut out so much lamination and graded so many papers when I was a kid! Life of a teacher's kid!
