My best friend growing up was a little girl I met in the playground, on my first day at a new school. I was five and we had just moved into the area. The little girl came up and said she was in my class so my mum asked her if she would look after me that day, show me where the classroom was etc. 27 years later, that girl is still my best friend and she still has my back!!

One of my best friends I've known my whole life as our parents were friends before we were born. She is still one of my best friends. My other best friend transfered to our town in jr high and was in my homeroom. She later told me she talked to me because I looked like the friendliest one in the room. This year we are going to do something to mark our 20th anniversary of being friends

@mrbee: yup! Our parents still live in the same neighborhood and a few houses apart. It's been so fun as we all grow up with weddings, babies, etc. Her family is my second family!

@chopsuey119: Mine was my next door neighbor as well! We had a neighborhood party at a park, and our parents introduced us...her family was about to move in. We started playing together, we'd walk to school together, etc. She was a year ahead of me in school, so we didn't hang out much while we were in school, but outside of school we were inseparable. Though both our sets of parents have since moved out of that neighborhood they are still great friends, too!

I met my best friend in my 3rd grade class when I moved to a new city. The teacher wanted someone to volunteer to be my 'buddy' and show me around the school, and she did. After school I went to get on my bus and she was there too, turns out we lived on the same route. The rest is history. We're still really good friends today.

Her first name is the same as mine and we met in Brownies when she was 4 and I was 5. We're still bff's, even though she lives in NY and I live in SC. S's middle name was the same as hers.

She liked my rainbow brite lunchbox in 1st grade so she came over and introduced herself. We're still BFFs now.

i had lots of great friends in my neighborhood & at school. my best friend was a girl i met at church. we still keep in touch but she lives too far away!
