I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer to this - I hope I don't come across as insensitive or offensive!
Does anyone know why peanut allergies seem to be taken more seriously than other types of food allergies? For example, my daycare has banned peanuts. Is it because peanut allergies are more often to be anaphylaxic? Or is it because it takes less exposure to peanuts/peanut dust to cause a reaction? Or is it because people usually don't outgrow a peanut allergy? Or are peanut allergies more common than other food allergies? Or is it because kids don't need peanuts so it's easier to just ban it than deal with it?
