We've had the right since 1920. I've voted every time there is a chance for me to get my vote heard (whether it's a Presidential election or not). Why the big fuss all the sudden? Is it just because people are all over social media these days?

Politicians seem to be making a big debate point to be about women's rights - our right to choose, our right to earn as much as our male counterparts, etc. I think that's why there's a big deal about women voting, since women issues are in the forefront this year.

I think it's because many people assume women are going to vote one way over the other, which I think is a false assumption.

They're trying to make us cycle together so we vote for the same candidate

LOL @ Maysprout
It seems especially important to me this year in particular because of the number of bills introduced since the last election that aim, IMO, to disenfranchise women’s health and reproduce choices. I think that has angered a lot of women, so you're hearing more from those women. We were officially and legally seen as second class citizens prior to 1920 and there are many women who see our rights being eroded again, back to second class citizen status. Women are the majority in this country and if we all voted, regardless of party affiliation; we might (as a whole) be more likely to see fewer cuts to the programs which primarily benefit women and children.

@Maysprout: HA! Too funny. I love the Colbert report.

@Maysprout: Hahaha!
@yoursilverlining: Ageed. It could be a combination of current women's rights issues, and an attempt to get the votes of a huge portion of the population. If you can get your party to be seen as the women's rights party, that's half the country!

They are trying to say that Republicans are taking away women's rights, so the only reason they keep pushing for women to vote is because they want women to vote for Obama.
I am a woman, and I voted for Romney, thankyouverymuch.

@MrsTiz: agree with you 100%. They are trying to use women's rights as a way to distract from the economy. They assume women will vote for Obama on this issue alone. I'm with you. My vote is for Romney.

This post by Nate Silver was interesting.

Apparently there's a big gender gap so I think it became a back and forth war with Romney trying to court women voters and then Obama trying not to lose them.
I was disappointed though that more issues weren't brought to the table. Abortion and birth control still take center stage.
I'd really like to see family issues be talked about but in a way that it's not women have to leave work at 5 pm to cook dinner, but more about workplace flexibility in general for families (both for mamas and papas) to promote family well being. I think the kind of talk focused on only women make it more likely women will face discrimination from employers.

Because reproductive rights are a huge issue, once again, and there are idiot lawmakers who want to dictate what women should do with their bodies and who think that there are such things as "legitimate rape."
