In my experience, DS isn't as verbal as DD was at the same age, and he's not as independent. He seems fine sitting on the potty now (at 13 months) but he pretty much never initiates it (either by signing or by actions) whereas DD was losing interest in her diapers at this point. Also, penises spray everywhere if you're not constantly vigilant, lol!

I always thought it was just because of the difference in equipment! Haha

I don't think its gender, My daughter potty trained at 2 but it was a long process. I tried my son at 2 and he just wasn't ready. We tried again at 2.5 and a week in pull ups and we were done onto underwear. He can definitely hold it longer and has fewer accidents then my daughter.

I think it depends on the kid, not the gender. I potty trained my son at 19 months (both night and day trained) without major issue.

Does it have its root in the animal kingdom? I know when I used to work at a stable, the male horses went to the bathroom wherever they felt like, whereas a lot of the mares only would pee in one corner of their stalls. It was clearly easy to convince the girls to be careful about where they used the bathroom, but not the boys!
