We're going to start DD #2 in daycare when she is 6 months old. DD #1 will still have a few years of daycare left - ugh, double daycare!! Not fun, but I don't want to pull DD #1 out of daycare since she loves it and would be so bored at home (with a nanny). I've seen a few people switch to a nanny once they have another LO. It does make sense financially, though. What would you do?

currently we cant afford to have 2 kids in daycare, so we will wait until baby number 1 is about to go to pre K before having another baby

Yes we will have two kids in daycare! So, so expensive!

@Andrea: We fear this because we want our kids close in age....so I figure I just won't work until they are both in pre-k and kindergarten. Is that an option? I am a social worker and we don't make enough to justify spending daycare fees on 2 kids! It would be my entire paycheck.
If I did have that option: i'd do an in-home nanny if it were equal or lesser price.
Do daycares not give any sort of discount on multiple children? Jeesh -
@TurtleDoves: That's great that you want to be a SAHM! I don't think being a SAHM would suit me and I do make more than the cost of 2 kids in daycare. It won't be a ton more but enough to continue working, I think.
Our daycare gives a 10% discount for subsequent children, I believe.
